Artistically there is much to love here, sadly all marred by Miller's unhealthy Trump obsession. Rafael Grampa's bizarrely unique style is fantastically suited to the DKR Universe, if only the narrative could have fit the design.

What was this?? Easily most disappointing one-shot of the event thus far. Don't the writers get tired of explaining the same things over and over? Bc we definitely get tired of re-reading them.

A very long way from Rebirth.

As artist Mitch Gerads himself has said, a 12-issue episode of "Scandal". Moving at a snails pace, King getting high on his own supply.

Could have been better written for children, Dustin Nguyen's watercolor impression of the pint sized heroes was pretty fantastic though.

I was really hoping it was about all the dead heroes trying to escape from an undead world.

It's just overwritten, much ado about nothing really. Still beautiful art but there isn't really room for this kind of mundane filler in an 8-issue series IMO.

Def needs help, but the core is still good.

I just can’t give the Crime Alley gang dialogue a pass, reads like it was written for a kids show.

Due to some of the high profile shifts in creative direction for this one, plus issues caused by the pandemic, this one-shot ultimately falls short. At least that's what I'd like to say. Outside of one or two of the stories, really not enough was divulged for this issue to matter enough. Fans are definitely getting impatient, hopefully Death Metal #3 delivers (it did).

Tynion tends to use a lot of exposition, too much affects the pacing negatively, good hook tho.

While not entirely original (or canonical) it is certain to entertain and satisfy horror and superhero fans alike. While I wasn't overwhelmingly impressed by the story (a typical 'outbreak' scenario, though in the form of anti-life), the intense art style overcompensates for any lack of imagination in that department. There were some refreshing and unique changes (namely GL Canary), but on the other hand certain major character deaths happened too fast to really matter.

Honestly, Gillen's self-satisfied writing makes me nauseous, J Hickman he is not.

Really missing just a classic science fiction adventure story here. King is becoming very tedious.

Apparently underrated.

Black Hammer is one of the greatest series (if not entirely original) to come out of the last decade. This crossover however, kinda takes away from what made the series so special in the first place by pairing them with their legitimized counterparts.

Hyper-violent ala Frank Miller does John Wick to the extreme. Has a lot to live up to at this point and it could still go anywhere.

What is likely Grant's final DC run (according to artist Liam Sharp who follows me on Twitter) is hitting all of the familiar bells, to set up for a likely emotional two-part finale.
