You Don't Read Comics - David Harth

X-Force #18 is yet another example of why this book is one of the best X-Men books on the market. Percy is using a Claremont-like storytelling style in this book, and its paying off, using elements from earlier stories to build new ones and using each story to talk about who the characters are. Browns art isnt great, but it works well enough with GURU-eFXs colors, making them look even better. X-Force #18 is another brick in the wall Percy and company are building with this book, and its great. Read Full Review

Overall, this weeks X-FORCE isnt as strong as its been in the past. Maybe its because Kid Omega isnt as strong of a main character to take center stage? Maybe it was the lack of clarity on the first read? Maybe the focus away from the X-FORCE team itself is what hindered the issue? Either way you slice the pie, the book just didnt feel the same this week. Yet, the payoff is on the horizon and Percy took us where we need to be to wrap this arc up. Read Full Review

X-Force #18is a fine book, but it's nothing game changing for the series. Benjamin Percy has been pretty solid as a writer on this title, so there is no reason to think his good work won't continue. The pencils and colors rock the issue. In a slow comics week, X-Force #18 is one of the better titles that came out. Read Full Review

This continues to be one of the best x-men titles and one of my favorite books on the shelves. The storytelling reminded me a bit of chris claremont which is a huge compliment. Benjamin Percy is doing a fantastic job on this and the wolverine books I am very excited to see what lies ahead

I'm enjoying this storyline with the patchwork Kid Omega terrorizing X-Force, but I don't want it to get dragged out for too much longer. It should be wrapped up in #19. Brown's artwork is definitely a downgrade from Cassara which also knocked this issue down a peg. All in all, not bad but definitely could've used some fine tuning.

Quire slowly works out what we already know: That somebody (it's XENO) is throwing a monster clone of him against Krakoa. Though the plot's dragging its feet, I don't begrudge the time spent exploring Quire's character. The stage is set for a killer psycho-drama climax. On the art front, my reaction was "man, Mr. Cassara's having an off day," which is, backhandedly, a fair degree of praise for Garry Brown. And hey, let's celebrate the fact that this issue goes further than any other toward confirming that Jean, Scott, and Logan are a thruple now.

It was a good read but the lack of Cassara's art and the main focus on Kid Omega didn't help. The art is a conduit for the story and without proper indicators to navigate the story, you are left to guess as you read which can be frustrating especially when facial expressions are just weird and don't give you clues. Garry Brown's sequential art/faces need to be improved but he is still talented and you can see his craft in the making. Ben Percy doesn't get a pass here because relying Kid Omega to carry this a whole arc is challenging and you need to add more for me to care. Good luck! I'll be here when Joshua Cassara returns.

I would have to, unfortunately, call this the worst issue of the run thus far. However, it's not really a bad book or anything. What really hurts this for me is Brown's art. It's not the worst art I've ever seen, but it's also far from great. A good chunk of the characters in this book just look odd because of it. As for Percy's story, though, it wasn't the strongest. I think there was some promise within it, perhaps in certain elements, but it just didn't come together as well as I think it could have.
