Savage Avengers #5 might not be as strong as previous entries, but it continues to be a thrilling experience that above all else, knows how to have a great time. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Jim Werner

After some really cool setup, this arc comes to a close way too fast. The big threats are either taken down or get away with little effort, leaving our heroes with nothing much to do by the end except leave themselvesto fight another day. I am still a fan of this book, but thats another reason this was so disappointing. Read Full Review

This isn't a quick cash grab based on a non-narrative property though, it's supposedly a premiere title with many of the most compelling Marvel characters around, so it's hard to cut such a shoddy effort much slack. Read Full Review

Savage Avengers is one of the most unique comics Marvel has ever published, and it definitely isn't for everybody. The way Duggan tells the story is very unique and probably reads better in trade, but I love the tone and Deodato's art may be the best art in any comic right now. A ton happened in Savage Avengers 5, including the unfortunate end of Conan's team-up with a symbiotic. The marrow is killed, but his blood poisons the Savage Avengers. The recently resurrected Kulan Gath escapes through a portal, and he's followed by Doctor Voodoo. Elektra, Logan, and Venom take one of Voodoo's portals back to New York, while Conan and Frank take the coffins of Frank's family and decide to walk through the Savage Land, Antarctica, and back to the ci more

Strong art and a good time. What more do you need? I thought this issue was a nice ending to the arc. People may have said its rushed but sometimes its nice to have something one and done not such a dragged out story. I feel like this books weaknesses were not as apparent as its strengths. Duggan and Deodato did us good here.

So far this series has been a major disappointment but I had fun reading this issue. The end was suddenly dropped on the table though so it should move the issue down some spots. But having fun is what comics are about, and this did the job. Hopefully they don't continue "Here comes this and here comes that!" Method of storytelling.

There's just so many ridiculous action beats and I like it.

This arc has started quite slow and generic, but has gotten around to being quite a fun read.

The art seemed a little better in this issue, I didn't spot any cheap repeated panels. The story remains rather sophomoric though, with some feeble attempts at humor and the story clumsily jumps from one scene to another in a blink. I won't be picking up the next series.

Its not bad at all just really not that great either. If you like the characters its worth the fun but besides that it could use a more interesting plot
