THE HIGH PRICE OF A NEW DAWN!
X-Force is the CIA of the mutant world-one half intelligence branch, one half special ops. Beast, Jean Grey and Sage on one side, Wolverine, Kid Omega and Domino on the other. In a perfect world, there would be no need for an X-Force. We're not there...yet.

    Comic Watch - Ross Hutchinson

X-Force kicks the Law & Order procedural feel, Percy promised leading into the run, into high gear as the characters involved go looking for answers in a dark tension noir-like book with art that feels perfectly complementary to the writing and the story being told. It grabs you tightly in its sharp-clawed hands and doesn't let go not even for a second. Read Full Review

If youre looking for an X-book thats the most connected to the relaunch, deeply rooted in HOXPOX, and featuring the Dawn of X as the focal point of the narrative, X-FORCE is definitely the book for you. Percy moves the overarching story forward, fills the tale with action, intrigue, and suspense while helping Jonathan Hickman (Head of X) usher in a new foundation for the landscape of mutantkind in the Marvel Universe. This comic is shaping up to be the sleeper hit of the X-Men relaunch. Watching Wolverine get back to the business of being a cranky, deadly bastard is putting the character right back to his roots and fans will love it. Surround the Canucklehead with a decent supporting cast and you have a gem of mutant-infused love. This one is a ride worth taking. I can't wait to read more! Read Full Review

In a lot of ways, this issue feels like the true start of X-Forceas a book. The previous issue had to do a lot of heavy lifting in termsof set-up, and here we can see what Percy and Cassara want to do in thetitle. It's an exciting chapter with a few jaw-dropping moments, andone that has kickstarted my excitement for this series in a major way. Read Full Review

X-Force #2 is a solid comic vastly improving on the first. It doesn't tip its hand early and instead does the opposite revealing tidbits as the story moves along. It's a solid mix of reflection on events and action. Though not the traditional team book, this is more the X-Force I was looking for. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Nov 30, 2019

X-Force #2 was a strong follow up to the major event that concluded the first issue of this series. Benjamin Percy shows a strong understanding of how to juggle a team filled with fan favorites and have them all add to the development of the story he is crafting. The different things that Magneto, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Sage, Beast and Kid Omega bring to the table are on full display. To balance that out Percy creates strong heat on the Reavers because of the actions they have taken. All that strong development helps make X-Force feel like a key title X-Men fans should have on their pull list. Read Full Review

This is a very interesting and tonally weird book. In this new era of mutants literally being superior over everybody else, the book shows the need for X-Force even more. Not every attack against the nation is going to be done on the political stage. There is always going to be a need for a secret task force to handle the dirty work. Read Full Review

While X-Force 1 was an intense fast pace thriller of an issue, X-Force 2 slows down and takes time to unravel the story after the shocking death of Xavier last issue. The dynamic of mystery Percy gifts this issue is great. By far the highlight of this issue is when Logan and Quentin uncover the assassin crafting base, and Percy goes full horror. The skin assassins were terrifying and Percy and Cassara executes this issue perfectly

THE GOOD: -I really love this series. -Damn. This art is so perfect. It fits the writing incredibly well. -Wow, that opening was powerful. -I don't know how Percy got so much better as a writer in between Nightwing (the last comic of his I read before this) and this, but the script was really damn good. -I really like the pacing here. This issue takes its time, but it never bores its audience. Really well-done. -Wow. These assassins are interesting and unique. Love the detail put into their design. -This issue is a lot of plot, but the characters still feel super strong. I'll highlight a couple standouts below, but everyone was written really well. -Kid Omega feels like he should be annoying, but I found him re more

Prelude: Percy did a great job with the initial issue of X-Force so let's see if he can carry that over into this issue. The Good: I do love the Sword of Damocles parallels. The infographics in this issue were great. They answer the exact questions I have and satisfy them too. I still love how the assassins are shown here and their powess that got them onto Krakoa. I enjoyed Cassara's art in this issue. Really shows this side of the mutant world off well. That cliffhanger. It's gruesome yet cool to see. I can't wait to see where this goes for the series. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: Percy improves on his work from #1 in this issue. I am absolutely loving this series so far and the tone it is going for.

OK so both New Mutants and X-Force second issues were much better than the first. Nice work here by Percy playing with the deck of characters. He makes the story steps progress and work very well. Joshua Cassara makes it it look so good! All those details on the gruesome creatures is fantastic and that Jean splash page was a joy to look at.

Ben Percy and Wolverine: probably a match made in heaven at this point. Mr Snikt has not gotten a lot of love since Jason Aaron nearly a decade ago, and it's nice to see him in his element. Can't wait for Percy's Wolverine in February. However, for now, this book will have to do, and this issue was great, much better than the first. I like how they are doubling down on Xavier's death, even though we all know he's coming back. At least provide some intrigue, which they are doing. The art is also really detailed and fun, that last panel with Domino is a little frightening which was fun to see. Good book, easy recommend.

I find these covers to be a great disservice to the content inside. This was an amazing comic book and a great follow up to the first issue. This issue has its own payoffs while adding to incident that will connect each issue. Pacing like this is gold when done right and Percy is totally in control of this series, you can tell by only the second issue that this is going to be more than just an average title. This artistically mite be one of the best X titles out right now.

The story develops into a fascinating blend of spycraft, police procedural, and body horror. The killer team of Kid Omega and Wolverine neatly solves my problems with the last issue. Their characterization is brilliant and they take action -- a hell of a lot of it. While their interactions are tons of fun, the rest of the issue suggests that this series will be able to survive and even thrive putting plot first. I'm rating this issue the same as the last, but it's actually a step up as here, stronger storytelling is lifting the weight carried by #1's "shiny new DoX smell." Nittiest of nit-picks: There are 3 Cuckoos in the crowd at the start. But per Marauders #2, all 5 Cuckoos are alive now.

X-Force appears to be the comic book, in addition to X-Men, that will focus on X-Men's relations with Krakoa. And if that is the objective, it has everything to do very well. This volume takes the events of the first edition and enhances it, making great advances in the history and mythology of the new phase of mutants. Killing Xavier in the first issue was quite courageous and leaving his resurrection in Jean's hands demonstrates that she really is the second strongest telepath on the island. The datapages in this volume work very well, are informative and complement the story. In the first datapage we had additional information from the first edition and in the second we discovered Xavier and Domino's relationship, which was actuall more

A good issue here that does a really nice job of making Xavier's death feel important, especially through Magneto and Jean. I also liked the dynamic between Wolverine and Kid Omega here, though I am relatively new to the latter as a character. Cassara also did a really nice job on the art, once again.
