We're talking about a guy who writes what seems like 40 comic book reviews a week. It's not like he spends enough time with these stories to actually deeply think about them. Does he not have much going on in his life? How could anyone possibly pump out this much review material? If he reviewed only five books, I would probably take his reviews a little serious.

I love where the series is going so far. I'm very intrigued. I think this book is 50/50. I'm not really sure it would work without Javier Rodriguez's art. I feel like he's just as integral to the storytelling as Camp.
Absolute Martian Manhunter #2
IS THIS ALL JUST THOUGHTSMOKE? The other-dimensional alien consciousness calling itself the Martian continues its invasion--and transformation--of John Jones' mind! The by-the-book FBI agent has been drafted into a cosmic war that will make him question the nature of reality and test his belief in good, evil, and free will! The weirdest hero of the...
I thoroughly enjoyed this issue.
Absolute Martian Manhunter #1
DENIZ CAMP AND JAVIER RODRIGUEZ TRANSFORM THE ABSOLUTE UNIVERSE! Beyond Mars...beyond physical form...beyond Human Understanding...all that's left is the ultimate alien: the Absolute Martian Manhunter!
This comic has been fantastic.
Gabe Hernandez is like the herpes or hemorrhoids of comic book reviews. So annoying and will not go away for good. I've never saw someone who consistently writes negative reviews just to be different.
Absolute Martian Manhunter #7
After the mind-altering events of the White Martian's first foray on earth, the Agency-a shadowy group with unlimited governmental authority- comes to investigate the strange occurrences in Middleton. John must juggle his job, hiding the Martian, his expanding abilities, and his crumbling relationships, all while living out of a motel. Meanwhile, B...
This book is solid and well written as hell. The art is fantastic, Hollingsworth is one of the best colorists in the business. It's a great recipe for a good book. Soule can be hit or miss at the Big 2 but this for sure hits with me. It's so damn good. I've enjoyed the first two issues immensely.
Eddie Brock: Carnage #2
THE RIGHT TO REMAIN VIOLENT!
When Eddie Brock walks into a police station and asks to be arrested, you know there's going to be some trouble. When Eddie also happens to be bonded to Carnage? It's going to be a bloody nightmare. The most lethal protector of all continues his deadly mission!
PARENTAL ADVISORY
This comic shouldn't work, but Soule and Saiz make it work.

I applaud Eve Ewing for not shying away from addressing Kitty's recent past, however, it's just not possible to justify the murders she has committed during the Fall of X storyline. Kitty, one of my favorite X-Men ever, is a ruined character, and it isn't Ewing's fault. However, the issue of Kitty's mass murder is brushed aside pretty easily, and this is a problem.
The art is great as

Exceptional X-Men #5
Saying the past is the past doesn't make it so, and Kitty is carrying the weight of her choices. Violence, vengeance and her life as Shadowkat are not so easily left behind - especially now that the rest of her team of new recruits knows the ugly reality of what she did in the shadow of Krakoa's fall. Now that the truth is out, so is Melee, leaving...
I think the ladder are reading the book. I don't think teens are reading this book. Because I am 42 years old and I'm reading this book. I rarely see teens in the comic book store.
Not just teens. Technically the cut off for gen x is 45 right now. Readers in their thirties and twenties is more my thinking. I'm 48 and most people in my store who really dislike this style are 40 and above. There will always be those who like it in all age groups, just speaking of the majority.
The best Lemire book in years. This is the most I've ever cared about Wally West. I need to know what went down with him and a certain character!
The Absolute line is the best thing going in modern comics.
Unless you're Gabe Hernandez, of course.
Absolute Flash #1
JEFF LEMIRE AND NICK ROBLES SPEED INTO THE ABSOLUTE UNIVERSE! Without the mentor...without the family...without the Speed Force, what's left is the Absolute Scarlet Speedster!
His New 52 Animal Man was great, I loved his Frankenstein Agent of SHADE and The Terrifics. In enjoyed the first volume of Black Hammer, but that's almost satire. It's in a weird space.
I also like minor arcana. I can remember not remembering anything about his x-men.
Mystique (2024)
Reminding the world to hate and fear her! How do you track a subject with a history that contradicts itself? How do you stop a force whose motives change like quicksilver? How do you stop a target that can be anyone? That's the question that confronts Nick Fury as he stumbles upon a web of lies and espionage leading back to Mystique. From the ashes...
Green Lantern Corps #1
THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS RETURNS WITH A BRAND NEW ONGOING SERIES! The corps is back! And just in time for the deadly new fractured spectrum saga to kick into full gear! Join the newly formed Green Lantern Corps as they head out into the galaxy in order to stop Sorrow and his master from creating a power battery. John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Jessica Cr...
Aquaman #2
ATLANTIS...OBLITERATED! After the shocking events of Aquaman #1, Arthur Curry is now a king without a home! But is hope truly lost? The answer lies in Aquaman's mysterious new water-morphing abilities, and a portal into the unknown. Earth's uncanny undersea hero must train like never before to stand a chance of recovering Atlantis from its untimely...
As much as I love Jeremy and think he's incredibly talented, this does not feel like Aquaman to me. I know a lot of people are loving this version of the character, but as a long time fan, this just isn't him. He would never yell out that he was going to kill anyone. He didn't even say that after Black Manta killed his son. I'm still not a fan of him having Mera's powers and then using it to sling more

How much Aquaman have you read? I asked because he's been pretty brutal in a few runs.
I'm a purist. So, I'm a fan of the Peter David run. I've read the entire early run by Levitz, the rebirth run, by Geoff Johns, and the Abnet run. Those are the runs I think capture the character the best.
The art was fire, and I actually really enjoyed the story. Way better than expected.
Eddie Brock: Carnage #1
THE MOST LETHAL PROTECTOR OF ALL! He's been VENOM, he's been ANTI-VENOM, he's been THE KING IN BLACK! Now Eddie Brock has made his darkest bond yet as he joins with the one and only CARNAGE! Can he control his new other's endless bloodlust? Or will he be give himself over to madness and murder? Writer Charles Soule (DAREDEVIL, DARTH VADER) and arti...
Whoa. Wasn't expecting much from this book but it was actually fantastic. I pre-judged it on concept alone and didn't even realize Charles Soule and Jesus Saiz were on this until I'd finished. Checks out. I'm excited for the next issue. May take venoms spot on my pull list...

Oh Mole Man how I missed thee. Cummings' art is fine but I wish his line work was a tad sharper. Another fun, low stakes issue overall with some great character work for Ben and Alicia's kids.
Fantastic Four #27
When N'Kalla - Skrull and adopted daughter of Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters - sees her brother Jo-Venn get in trouble at school and be sent to the principal's office, she does the sisterly thing... which is, of course, to shape-shift into a double of their father Ben to get him out of it!
And when her cousin Valeria gets in trouble, "Reed Ric...
Continues to be my favorite marvel book, carried by the writing and Done in one format. Art is good, but I still don't think they've found the perfect artist for this book.

if this run does not explore some of the most insanely creative comics logics and concepts with a good-natured smile on its face, it builds upon preexisting relationships and redefines them, while having tons of fun with it. It's so endearingly dumb and smart at the same and I am completely in love with it. Best comics out rn.
Fantastic Four #26
The World's Smartest Man (Reed Richards, universally acknowledged) and the World's Hottest Man (Johnny Storm, self-proclaimed) are home alone. Their only job is to make sure nothing untoward happens to the farmhouse while everyone else is away. But when Reed develops a magic detector that goes haywire when pointed at a specific spot in their baseme...
"No other skull can make this claim."
I sometimes take weeks to read an issue of this comic because I want to read it in the perfect moment. I don't just want to flip through and enjoy the story, I want to *marinate* in it. No other modern FF run can make this claim.

I guess this was what kids felt when reading FF in the 60s.
Fantastic Four #25
When an excursion to Latveria magically sends the Fantastic Four to an alien world, they have to work just to survive - and to make their way back to Earth! I thought this issue was going to be pure cringe (Johnny falls in love with and alien hahahaheee derp) but it ultimately reminded me of The City on the Edge of Forever from Star Trek and that can't be a bad thing.

It is a crying shame that they took Carlos Gomez off this book and put him on Venom.
