When N'Kalla - Skrull and adopted daughter of Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters - sees her brother Jo-Venn get in trouble at school and be sent to the principal's office, she does the sisterly thing... which is, of course, to shape-shift into a double of their father Ben to get him out of it!
And when her cousin Valeria gets in trouble, "Reed Richards" arrives to get her off the hook, and soon "Sue Storm" is excusing Franklin for his misbehavior too...
But when she gets caught in her deceptions and grounded, things go from bad to worse when a super villain attacks and the Fantastic Four are nowhere to be seen!

Fantastic Four #27 is a fun, character-driven detour that highlights Nicki Masters-Grimm's youthful perspective and powers, but its low stakes and filler nature make it feel like a breather rather than an essential installment. Read Full Review

This was another good light-hearted funny ish like #26. For me it was a better way of bringing the FF kids in and making them more likeable which the last issue that attempted this failed for me (with the homework crap). This ish was more about Ben and Alicia's kid Nikki being a skrull and realizing how to best use her powers. At first she was using it to get her brother and Valeria and Franklin out of the principals office and imitating the FF. Some really funny dialogue here, this is how you do light comics without being overly stupid or treating your readers like idiots, well done.

I didn't like everything (some of the dialogue didn't work for me), but the stuff I did like, I REALLY liked. Props to North for that scene where Ben has a one on one with Nikki.

Continues to be my favorite marvel book, carried by the writing and Done in one format. Art is good, but I still don't think they've found the perfect artist for this book.

Oh Mole Man how I missed thee. Cummings' art is fine but I wish his line work was a tad sharper. Another fun, low stakes issue overall with some great character work for Ben and Alicia's kids.

Props to Ryan North for using Slott's addition of N'Kalla here. Nice story that could have been better with better art.

Cute issue, but a few things keep it from being as good as some previous issues. Art felt like a decent step down. It doesnt 'jive' with the previous issue styles, especially that this was a kid issue. Too dark and thick lines, too 'gritty' for a kid issue. Writing felt sloppy. I dont think North has a good voice for N'Kalla. I mean she is a newer character, but this felt more like an adult trying to teach a lesson through a kid rather than a kid actually speaking. North might know how to write the FF but he doesnt do a good job with the kids. Overall plot line was just kind of weak. Without the weird science fun, the book just doesn't have its spark. Nice lesson but a missed opportunity sadly.
