Nightwing #79 is almost exactly what I hoped for with this new run on Nightwing. Honestly, I wanted Dick and Babs to do a hard traveling heroes kind of thing, but this is a pretty close second. Taylor doesn't show all his cards yet, and I love the slow burn approach. It feels like he's super confident that he's in this for an extended run and is setting things up in a relaxed, non rushed manner. The chemistry between Dick and Babs is obvious and extremely well written. The art and colors by Redondo and Lucas bring the story to life. And while this isn't as good as issue one, it's one heck of an issue two. I wonder how long before DC wants to double ship Nightwing??!! Read Full Review

Nightwing #79 didn't impress me as much as Tom Taylor's first issue of Nightwing did, but I am still excited for this book.  I need things to get moving forward a bit more.  It may be just me, but I love Dick Grayson because he's a great guy, so I don't need to be reminded of it every page at the expense of story progression. Who are the people who helps you when you fall? Who are your safety nets? In Bludhaven, there is none... until Nightwing came. The true start of the Nightwing run of Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Adriano Lucas(colors) and Wess Abbott(letters). Rendondo's art encapsulates the ease of movement of DC's greatest acrobat. Everytime Nightwing moves there is ease, gracefulness and flow in every panel. The color has been my favorite since the pass issue. Adriano Lucas needs to be mentioned. He gives this issue (and the last one) its' life. Bludhaven is not a copy cat Gotham because it can clearly be seen in the colors. It reminds me of New York (park, streets, alleyways). The letters is clear and there is a great one in a fight scene. You can't ask for more. Taylor's redemption tour from killing Dick in the most stupid way in Injustice continues. He understands the character he writes. But more importantly, he loves him. Or I think he does. As his run continues, maybe I will forgive him. Maybe. If the theme of this issue is Dick Grayson, the heart of DC and the Bat family vs Bludhaven, the city with no heart. I can't wait for the next one: Dick Grayson vs Heartless, the man with no heart. Anyone call up Scott Snyder, Taylor is doing his own Black Mirror and Jim Gordon, Jr. LOL There is sticky note: "DAN: YOU ARE FIRED!!!" This series keeps on firing shots: Lobdell, King and now my hero DiDio ;D Anyway, it's just great that Nightwing is DC's best right now. more

It´s so funny seeing the salty Red Hood fans and their fake accounts reviewing this book with low numbers lmao. They are still crying that nobody was buying Red Hodd despite all the pushes DC gave the Winter Soldier/Raphael wanabe haha. Maybe if they actually bought the book at comic stores (some of them are not even from the US lmao) your precious Todd would still have a series. Poor Jason Todd fans lmao.

And I say FAN because it´s clearly that there is only one sad underdeveloped-country dude who has like 5 fake accounts and thinks nobody notices lmao, giving himself likes and comments lmao. That´s what happens when you have nothing going on in your life. Poor guy, who compares the sales of a #1 ANTHOLOGY BATMAN book against the #78 of a SOLO book. It´s no wonder he likes Reed Hood though, with the inferiority complex and all that.

I'm loving how grounded and real this comic feels so far. Dick and Barbara have such great chemistry together. The art from Bruno Redondo is top notch and brings it above anything else coming out right now. For just a second issue this is really something special.

Continues to be an exceptional nightwing run. Artwork is beautiful, the story feels like the Dick Grayson I KNOW & LOVE. This issue continues what was set up in the previous issue where dick finally knows what to do with the money. He wants to become a safety net for the citizens of Bludhaven. We see him helping on the micro level with the dad & son but the end of the book has him now wanting to help on the Macro. The story contains many touching moments between Dick & Babs, references of the full history of Nightwing, Easter eggs, & more. Great second issue! THE BAT FAMILY HAS A GROUPCHAT & I LOVVVVEEE IT!

It’s quickly becoming my favorite thing Tom Taylor has done, and he’s done some amazing work. He just understands these characters so well and the dialogue flows perfectly. The art is also top notch here, I really enjoy the panel layouts, it’s very different compared to the standard comic book grid layout.

They are salty Bruce is not an everyman. Dick can throw a party and converse with the common man like a normal person. They can't get over that Dick is a better man than Bruce, which Bruce also admits. Now Dick is a billionaire, he can do what Bruce can do and more.

The art is amazing in every way possible. The coloring creates such a distinct, but also familiar mood to the Nightwing comics. But how can some of Taylor's dialogue be so cliche, surface level, totally not in the right place and straight up unnecessary. Barbara does not add much to the book too, actually I can say that her inclusion is pretty wasted and her relationship with Dick is pretty shallow here , which again is mainly because the dialogue IMO. It really sucks, because I really think the ideas are great here and overall the issue is pretty focused on those ideas. The pacing is also quite great and the conclusion is quite logical. Also the way Bludhaven is presented, is a great and for sure the city needed something like that. In a way that's thing with Taylor for me, he gets the characters, he can write fun comics, but most of the time it's without much of nuances and deepness that makes them unique. Really I feel like if Nighwing was replaced by Spider-man, I would not see a difference. That's why I think he is not the best fit for a solo character series, especially established characters, but pretty amazing in the event and the team books. more

I enjoyed the prior issue and felt that Nightwing was headed in a good direction, but I have to say this issue was a bit boring and spent too much time just rehashing old stories. Hopefully next issue gets better.

Oh boy... this Issue left me cold. Taylor wasn't lying when he said his Nightwing would be a lot like Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The problem is, imo, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man only worked because it is NOT the flagship title of Spider-Man... But back to this particular Issue. The first few pages are a good entry point. Dick's and Bab's banter is nice and the appearance of a homeless man with his kid is believable. What feels forced is Dick's reaction to it. Especially in the way, it's presented. I cringed. I downright cringed and I thought I wouldn't have to do that again in a Nightwing book for a while. Dick of course ends up helping people. Then is the butt of a joke much like in the first Issue because that's alwa ys great, but at least this time it serves a purpose. Kinda. A very forced purpose. This feels all over the place. While the other archiving storylines will be what Dick will do with the money, Melinda's involvement, and Heartless, they aren't truly gripping at this point. Dick's grand epiphany of what to do with the money feels like something he should have realized at the start. Apart from some nice character moments, this feels like a slapstick comedy. more

A boring number to die for, again Dick's successes on his 20 suits, what he did etc, we went on to meditation on what a hero is and then to spend the money that Alfred inherited only to him to buy pizza. Just a little bit of action at the end to make them say it wasn't filler. If you are not a die-hard fan Nightwing fan, don't spend your money, unless you want it to build a bonfire. It's no worse than when it was Ric, but this just isn't moving forward.

I do not know if DC is going to do it with this, I know that their sales are going down a lot and their strategies are not working. I think they had high hopes for Urban Legends and Chip, but the price coupled with bad stories is not allowing UL to achieve what The Three Jokers did.

Another bore from Taylor's Nightwing, it had all the tropes of his writing. I swear I've seen this comic written by him ten times over by now, he just changes the names of the characters. And his humor continues to be as cringey as it can get. That said, the art was fabulous, this, just like Cantwell's Iron Man, seems to be a way better comic if you just let the art tell the story without the writer adding nothing, he just makes it much worse. And again, for someone who is currently writing a Batman book and has a pretty nutty fanbase who insists that he should get the main Batman book (let's hope it never comes to that) he seems pretty oblivious to the fact that Batman has helped Gotham again and again as Bruce Wayne, I know this type of t hinking is classic Taylor with his hate and obsession with billionaires but as a fictional character Bruce Wayne has poured his heart and wallet out for Gotham over and over. P.S.: I think that there are two people with reviews here who have some mental health problems because they're really losing it just because some of us are not in awe of Taylor's childish writing. more

Preach!  Bruce pours lots of money into Gotham. Hell, he keeps Wayne Enterprises - a global corporation - headquartered in Gotham, even though he doesn't have to. He does it because he knows Gotham's economy would hurt if WE left the city.  I get tired of people who don't know what they're talking about bashing Bruce "for not doing enough".

Another thing, they should ask the Spiderman writers for lessons, these people do not know how to make a funny moment even if their life depended on it.
