Gritty and mature. Worth it.

GA is back to being self-righteous taking down A-holes. What is not to like? A sort of back to the basics for GA which is a good place to go after all the madness he has been through and the repairs Williamson did on his run.

The opening pages on how some citizens struggle with housing really do hit hard because it's all too relatable. I also really like the art in this story as well. It reminds me of Andrea Sorrentino

This series continues to tell a hard hitting, grounded story that is illustrated excellently.

I've not heard of Montos before this book. But my word, his paneling and sense of procession is very very good. He approaches it like a cinematopher with great lighting and angles.

This issue is action heavy and serves as a crescendo for the story. Chris condon gets this character and his mindset as he fights. more

This is a fun issue with. Lot of punch. The art is simply sublime and it teasing some good old fisticuffs to come soon.

The opening narrative is a little hard to follow but I read the description of Peter's dream as being a cool metaphor for his life as Spider-Man and his struggles. We'll see where it goes.

All of the Absolute books fall somewhere between good and fantastic, but of the six of them this is the one that's really poised to take its place among the greatest portrayals of its protagonist. I haven't read a Wonder Woman run this good since Rucka, and frankly even Rucka wasn't this good every single month.

This book is so good it's almost comical.

Like, each issue has been steadily better than the last for the most part. And yet, the level of quality has not hit a wall or petered out. Its very much still killing it in every regard.

This issue might be the best since the reboot. The crushing emotions and the weight of everything happening here as the brothers go through turmoil is insane.

Juan Ferreyra outdoes himself with every page, every panel. Hes literally about to become my favorite tmnt artist of all time with this book.

Gotta say, art was phenomenal. And I liked what Kelly's idea was for this and message was heartful So, I can confidently say that if the hack fraud who works for the Spidey office as the main editor doesn't quit by 1000, then I will. The sheer level of incompetence this storyline has showcased has been disrespectful and horrible to see.

Like, way to ruin a nice idea by Kelly. Like what the hell was this storyline. What a waste of time with no consequence

What was the point of Peter moping for three issues, cheating Shay or treating her horribly, breaking up with her and then getting back together. The only thing managed was to showcase what a joke that relationship is and how horribly Shay is been treated. At least show some character we saw from her in #55.

What was the point of that one-off between Peter and Felicia. It didn't change anything. Only lessened the relationship between them. Why where the rest of the X-Men here besides Juggernaut. This is the second team-up we see with them and Spidey and it means nothing. Why do they need to bring Cyclops and Magik here, if they don't interact with the main character at all. Don't they have trust that this will sell? Who is this for???

I like the idea of Cyttorak being the new casket. But what we have seen from this storyline, rules don't matter at all, so by the next time we see Cyttorak, Randy Robertson can be the new casket because why not.

And when the Fraud mentioned that it was Kelly's idea they started to work on, I got the idea how it went down. Kelly wanted to do a story where he showcased Peter's love for life and how it can affect even immortal gods like Cyttorak and motivate them to do good by seeing the beauty of life. It's a beautiful idea and Kelly does his best here to showcase it. The rest of this arc pretty much ruins it by disastrous editing, since there is no clear vision how to make it last for 12 issues.

And they even didn't get the name right for this. If all other mistakes and choices weren't enough, they can't even name the storyline correctly. 8 DEATHS OF SPIDER-MAN!!! WHERE HE FACES 8 SCIONS OF CYTTORAK. BUT ACTUALLY IT'S ONLY 5. HE ALSO DIES ONLY 5 TIMES. TWO OF THE SCIONS AREN'T EVEN SEEN, JUST KILLED OFF-SCREEN. more

Plot
Spider-Man has the power of Cyttorak thanks to Cyra's sacrifice. He is Spider-naut, and with the help of Juggernaut, he manages to stop Cyttorak's attack, who understood the value of life thanks to Cyra's sacrifice. Doctor Doom chose Spider-Man for this competition to break Cyttorak's unbreakable will.

Peter returns to normal and understands the value of his life and that its fragility is beautiful. He apologizes to Black Cat, MJ, Aunt May, and Shay, with whom he will begin his romance anew.

This arc finally ends. Although it had a good premise, it was longer than necessary. Now this comic is rebooted.

This is a great end to this arc. Excellent Peter moments. Hom exemplifying love for life is pitch perfect.

The arc had its down moments but this was a great finale. The art makes it an 8 alone.

There’s alotta reprints for issues 1-6; hunt them down and enjoy a glorious first arc.

I didn’t love the 2nd arc as much, but that’s to be expected. They opted to lay groundwork, and that forethought pays off swell in the third arc.

If you don’t jump in now, then you’re bound to regret it. DWJ is so hot right now.

DWJ is on a generational streak with this series. I've not seen a book this consistently good in a long long time and I can't believe we're already 18 months into this. The epic visuals; the pitch perfect characterization and the ambitious storytelling do not tke breaks. There are no filler issues, no padding. All of it is in your face and relevant to the ongoing story and this issue culminates everything that has happened so far into the return of a character just as iconic to this brand and to pop culture as Optimus himself.

Its been building for a while but the moments of gravitas interspersed throughout the chaotic action still feel fresh and poignant. My anticipation for what's to come cannot be higher. more

The story is solid but the art is the highlight here. Juan Ferreyra's art and panels are on another level making the action so dynamic and full of energy.

This series has been killing and the art is now more amazing than ever. Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra are on the top of their game

7 issues in and this series has hit a great stride. Its been building up so much tension, inner conflict and outer; and moving many pieces between this book and the other runs happening simultaneously.

This issue kicks the entire thing into high gear, with some of the best dialoguw and narration I've seen in a while. Jason Aaron is outdoing himself, and if Juan Ferreyra isn't already on your radar as a top notch comic book cartoonist hed better be now. These panels and pages are filled with emotion; the hits on the page feel impactful, and the lighting is Gothic while maintaining the highlights of greens, reds and blues that TMNT is known for. This feels in the vein of the original Mirage series, with the action on screen complimenting the character dynamics.

This relaunch has been a resounding success. more

I'm usually not a big fan of slow-paced character moments because I tend to prefer a lot of engaging action and dialogue. However, this issue was an exception, and besides the art I really like how we see Oliver Queen's mental state after seeing the latest victim. It's quiet, but the dialogue works and for once I got to put my shoe where my mouth is. This was a good issue in my opinion due to good dialogue, pacing, great art, and overall characters. more

The best thing about this is not the narrative or the art, tho both of those are excellent; especially the latter.

The best thing is that writer Chris Condon understands Green Arrow. You can have a good run on Green arrow without understanding or showing everything about him, but when you get past his MO and left wing politics, Oliver Queen is ultimately someone driven by empathy, and filled with rage. When you showcase those aspects of his character, he really sings. This issue shows that in a great way, especially in his moments alone toward the end.

Another incredible issue. Juan Ferreyra is my favorite active artist, he has a way with texture and kinetic energy that is unmatched. I can't say enough good things about his work. This has been an incredibly well-written book too. The Turtles' individual traits are well represented, and the physical changes (especially to Donny) are very interesting. Donny being crazy and Mikey letting his fame go to his head are nice wrinkles to their personalities. This is one of my favorite books right now. Incredible stuff. more

Jason Aaron is 6/6 so far and this might be the strongest issue. Its dark, emotional, and this art is just immaculate. Juan Ferreyra needs to be 10x more popular than he is.

This was the best issue yet and brings home the core concept of the series and what makes this Batman different, and why making him decidedly NOT a billionaire was done. This Batman is very not just doing this out of a hatred of evil, but a desire to help people and to curtail corruption by those who have the power to enact change but don't.

Its not the first time the character has flirted with these ideas but id dare to say its never been more intertwined with the Bat mythos. Really good stuff. I think I'm in on this for the long haul now.

Gabriel Walta being on art duties is a big shift from Dragotta but I've liked Waltas art for some time and I think he's particularly skilled at conveying the emotion of this issue and the gritty struggle of Bruce trying to adapt to a situation he can't possible comprehend the scale of.

A great read all around. more

What an absolute treat. I did not know I needed this in my life.

Marvel, we need a proper series. Make it so!

Obviously as a humongous Rocket fan I was gonna get this anyway, but I wasn't expected such an issue of epic cosmic scale.

It manages to blend humor, pathos and adventure and to be incredibly engaging without even containing much of a fight scene.

It builds upon an unlikely formation of Kindred spirits.. from when Rocket and Doom switched bodies, and gained understanding of each other that may be singular. Their dynamic here is surprisingly lively and given the comic book level abstractness of their shared goal here it would be easy for this issue to narratively implode in itself. But it doesn't.

Id say the way it ends is pretty interesting, with room for some interpretations, but it speaks to why Doom is one of the very best of Marvels characters... and why Rocket is the perfect companion for this journey into his own soul. Its a little indulgent and typically praiseworthy of Doom, but I think it earns it.

JMS killed it basically. High marks.

And Will Robson had a gargantuan task with this issue and delivered too. Not everyone will appreciate his style, but I do. Hes able to capture expressive essentials and tone in ways that make the script sing.

Pick this one up. We meed more Rocket books. more

Unintentionally goofy and dumb origin story. Imagine Snyder getting inspiration from chainsaw-man and my Heroe Accademia without getting it. Middle age man idea of manga without taste or creativity.

Top-tier comic book.

Its hard not to appreciate this issue on a conceptual level at the very least.

It ends unresolved so we'll have to see the resolution, but as setup it is pretty solid. Having Spiderman face off against nihilism itself is an interesting premise, and the issue makes a case for it.

If done right this can be a really inspiring spidey moment. I hope they stick the landing.
