When I was reading DP Bad Blood #4, this bugged me so much I actually counted: 15 out of 29 pages had no backgrounds whatsoever.
JEFF LEMIRE AND NICK ROBLES SPEED INTO THE ABSOLUTE UNIVERSE! Without the mentor...without the family...without the Speed Force, what's left is the Absolute Scarlet Speedster!
I want to give this a higher score but the premise doesn't live up to the execution. The art is phenomenal, the story is interesting but not very gripping. I would have benefitted from either more pages or turn it into a mini series. It wasn't much of a gauntlet but Batman's interactions with Robin are really well done.
None of the stories here are particularly great. My favorite was No Spider Blues because I fully ship Deadpool and Peter. Something I noticed: In Rob Liefeld's story, there are barely any backgrounds. It's actually insane. We barely know at any point where any of the characters are in space. It will forever shock me that people like this guy's art.
Seven kills in seven days! Welcome to a week in the life of Wade Wilson, the best mercenary Marvel's ever had (just ask him)! From facing off with rival killers to top secret assassinations, DEADPOOL has a lot of work to do in this blood-soaked oversized issue full of fan-favorite creators past and future!
Rated T+

It's every book he does art on. It's so far below the standard of quality that we should expect from the Big Two, and it's not a matter of style. He only gets work because of his name, and that's even perplexing in itself because his name wasn't good for long in the 90s.
SPIDEY & HIS COSMIC FRIENDS! Who is this space-faring Spider-Man, and who is his crew?! You may recognize Rocket Raccoon and may have heard of Symbie. The other companions will have a huge impact on Spider-Man and may hold a key to some mysteries that have been brewing!
This comic feels like everything one shouldn't be when making a story with set ending in mind.
And that is: it tells, it doesn't show.
I can always praise art here. I do love it. But the timeskip we got, was way too major. What is left is us being told multiple things without us actually seeing them. We are given implication that they happened and that's it.

THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF [REDACTED]!
I really liked this. Really really liked this. What a "succulent" issue of ASM.
THE SECRETS OF SPACE REVEALED! Spider-Man takes on a challenge of single combat to save his new crew and finds himself between a rock and a GIANT ALIEN BEAST INTENT ON HIS DEATH! Not only does Spider-Man learn aspects of his quest that he didn't expect, but his companions learn things about Spider-Man that THEY didn't expect. Witness the first full...

It's been a looong time since I've read Long Halloween, so I may not have picked up on everything here, but what we got was pretty good, I guess. Nothing mindblowing. Tim Sale's art is definitely not on the level it once was, but they still manage to make some cool images across the one-shot.

Even better than its antecessor, "Dark Victory" ends the first part of Bruce Wayne journey as Batman, bringing closure to a lot of the characters first introduced in "Year One". The plot-twist is really good, the whole storyline and mistery around the Hang Man is well build. And also - Dick Grayson! Yes.

I'll say the same thing i've said when i finished the Long Halloween: M.A.S.T.E.R.P.I.E.C.E.!
This is a PERFECT follow up, although it has the same story structure of The Long Haloween(actually is the only story structure that Loeb knows how to use lol) the inclusion of Robin here is gives this a very distinctive feeling from the last series. The mystery is still engagin and intriguing, more

The epic conclusion to Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's Batman masterpiece! What connection does the Hang Man have to Harvey Dent, and can the murders be stopped before the most horrifying killing of them all takes place? This time Batman is no longer alone in his quest for justice as a young, inexperienced Robin joins him and the dynamic duo is born!
After last issue's shocking turn of events, is it ever going to be possible to discover the true identity of the Hang Man? And how does Dick Grayson fit into all this?
In the heat of the summer, Batman confronts Poison Ivy as she makes her move. But will it be against Two-Face or the Falcones? Plus, Dick Grayson gets closer to finding his parents' killer and the Hang Man strikes again!
In a city divided by Freaks and Gangsters can there be justice for anyone? As Batman searches for Harvey Dent, Mr. Freeze unexpectedly enters the picture. Plus, while the Hang Man's noose tightens around Gotham City, Dick Grayson makes a startling discovery!
The final act begins with a Father's Day look at two heroes--Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson--whose lives were forever changed by the murders of their parents. Witness the stories of Batman and Robin's first nights as orphans in Wayne Manor.
Bruce Wayne attends a night at the circus, a night that changes his entire life when a certain 10-year-old boy experiences a tragedy that sets him on a collision course with the Dark Knight. But, if the Joker blows up Gotham City, will any of it matter?
It may be April Fools' Month, but things are getting very serious in Gotham City! The Calendar Man sets out to prove that he's nobody's fool. Where has he been since breaking out of Arkham, and why is the answer bad news for Batman?
Fraction does it again.
Vandal Savage makes his move against Batman and Robin, Bruce Wayne tries to make amends, and the Riddler makes his play for arguably the most important item in all of Gotham. Fraction and Jiménez take things to a whole new level as their thrilling new run on Batman continues!
there's moments of levity that shows Matt Fraction is at least having fun and not taking some inspiration from Morrison's works. Damian kicking Bruce in the balls. Bernard and Bruce's relationships. I am not a big fan of slow burns, but Matt Fraction does it well, and he just makes Bruce Wayne feel more human. We all know how Bruce Wayne is all serious and brooding who doesn't joke, but writers forget that Bruce Wayne can be funny in his own way. This feels like a 1960s Batman in the modern era
Bruce smiling at the thought of Van Gogh painting a 100 starry nights is the panel that got me. The story is going somewhere I want to go. I’m calling it now… Bruce is quitting, which is different than getting his back broken or being anti lifed by darkseid. Because he chooses it. At least temporarily of course…
Things are heating up in Gotham City's underworld and the Penguin wouldn't have it any other way. With his hands tied by the Hang Man case, can Batman stop the fowl felon from starting a gangwar?
Man, Gabe's bad opinions are so strong he is getting two reviews.
Some of the biggest names in comics take a turn in the Absolute Universe! Daniel Warren Johnson and James Harren tell tales from Absolute Batman’s early days! How did Bruce acquire his batmobile? And what was it like for Black Mask’s party animals when Batman first hit the scene?
Generally one shouldn't give just a plain 10 for a comic based on the first story.
But this time I'll make an exception.
Something something "comics are now too political" something something "it's woke and bad!"

Holy peak, Batman. Let me get this out of the way really quickly. Harren and McClaren both did really good jobs here and I liked what they gave us here. That said, Johnson knocked it out of the park with the main story. That story, on its own, gets a 10/10 for me. Warren and McClaren's stories were just gravy. Batman hitting a One Winged Angel was just insane and I loved it so much. The story as a more

Oh, I've been anticipating that happening since the book was first announced. Luckily, the averages I've seen, so far, are great. Hateful people won't be able to hold down how great this book is.
What's honestly crazy is DWJ is on par or very near consistent with how Scot Snyder's writing is for Absolute Batman. I will dare even say this is my favorite annual of all time
Auld Gabe being a bawbag as usual.

Ooh that was a pleasant surprise! I definitely don't think there's 18 comics' worth of things to say about the latest low-energy rehash of Age of Apocalypse, but Kelly & Walker make a solid case for the question of "what's Spider-Man doing in the middle of this?" as being one worth exploring. And I'm surprisingly into a Cecilia Reyes/Peter Parker romance, considering that it's one I'd never in a m more

The dynamic between these 4 central characters is absolutely magnificent.
They have the kind of character rapport that most writers would kill for.
