I'm really loving how this series is wasting no time ramping up the stakes, and how after the second issue, it seems things are going in a different direction than I initially thought. This series is safe in Thorne, Soy, and Santucci's hands. Even better than last issue, Green Lantern #2 demonstrates that there's a lot of room in the Universe for the concept and a lot of new ground to be covered in this series. The Green Lantern concept has operated on the notion that it's not just one single individual. Hal Jordan may have been the focus for many of the characters' 80 plus year history, but this series shows that there's more characters and ideas to be explored through the core concept of a sentient being with a power ring fueled force of will. Green Lantern #2 shakes up the Green Lantern universe in a lot of ways, some interesting and some which leave me shaking my head. Most Green Lantern fans have grown tired of some of the tropes that Geoffrey Thorne trots out. In all honesty, I'm not interested in reading about Green Lanterns without their rings, nor do I find the characters that he's chosen to focus on particularly compelling. The sooner they dump Teen Lantern in crappy Saturday Morning cartoon solving mysteries with her pet ferret and Tom Selleck the better. It's better than issue one.. but you could argue that Attack of the Clones is better than the Phantom Menace and forget that beside Empire they are a long way short. Well, that Issue ended with a bang. Not really sure what to say here. I'm still at a loss of words. I enjoyed the roles all characters played in this. While the first half is very fact heavy, the second is incredibly emotional, which keeps this Issue very balanced. If it weren't for some art hiccups at the end, this would be a ten for me.

This is honestly mostly a good issue. The only problem I really have with it is the stuff that directly sets up the Future State story that I hated. John and the thousand Green Lanterns exploring unknown space should be exciting, but I know where that leads and it's suuuuuper boring. Then the power battery blows up... Oh God, I'm having Future State PTSD, please stop. It's a shame because the rest is enjoyable and honestly, if the power battery part didn't happen, I'd be much more optimistic about this series. And I think that's generally the consensus here.

there is a good chance this isn't the same thing that happens later in Future State. Thorne himself has said on Twitter that it wasn't and Last Lantern story in FS does take place 14 years in the future. Hard to think they do nothing now for 14 whole years about the problem at hand

I should've been more clear, as there are definitely differences between future state and the current story. Characters are in different places, the exact circumstances are not 100% the same. When I say I know where this leads, I mean I know how Thorne writes these characters when they're not powered in a foreign world. Even if it doesn't directly set up *the* story from Future State, it does set up a very similar story about depowered lanterns.

I know Geoffrey Thorne hates Hal Jordan, but we must stop acting as if that made a bad story. But brother, that was boring. However the colours were pretty dope. Now for the big question. Why on Earth do american writters always put latino characters speaking in spanish with guys that probably don't speak spanish, I know Lantern rings translate stuff and all of that, but would Thorne put a lantern speaking in vietnamese if they were from Vietnam? Probably not. I am writting this review in english because I know most don't speak my language, so why can't Thorne do the same with Green Lantern?

Yeah, this is going downhill pretty fast. It's not all bad but it's like Thorne has ADHD or something, he can't hold the story in one direction more than two-three pages, after which he goes in a completely different one and overall it just comes across as a mess, nothing seems to be satisfying by the end of the issue. Add to that his visceral hate towards Hal Jordan which is more and more visible in a stark contrast with his fawning over Stewart. And I like John Stewart, every kid who grew up with the JL cartoon can't not like Stewart but diminishing Hal who is probably the quintessential Lantern, especially for comic fans, is a wrong move. I'd say that normally this will be one of the first books DC will cancel but given the way they've t reated the Lanterns these last few years I'm expecting they'll let Thorne sink this ship for however long he wants to. more

Why have the teen lantern (who needs to go) speak Spanish? Just translate it, like every other comic book. It's jarring and interrupts the flow of the comic. Great if you can speak Spanish...

For some reason I thought it was Brazil lol. I'm not a fan of the character either. She's totally pointless and we have too many Earth lanterns already. She could very easily be edited out and nobody would care.

Wow, hard to believe that Thorne messed up this badly and only 2 issues into his run. I'm not sure if he understands much of anything about his audience. It's as if he is going out of his way to alienate people. If it wasn't for review purposes I wouldn't bother reading this book at this point. Save your money kids, send a clear signal to DC through poor sales that this isn't what is wanted in a GL book.
