So you either don't actually read any of the comics you review or you get them for free online.

@Phantom Yeah, I do have free access to a lot of physical books without having illegally download them, but if that's what you assume people do because that is what you do then that's really telling of you and not me. No way is this book on par with DD: Born Again, Whatever Happened to the Man of Steel, Maus or books that really do deserve a 10. The scene with the thugs scanning the air and saying lines like "where is he" or "who are you" is ripped off from every modern Batman movie but originality isn't what Ridley does. Race BS is what Ridley gets paid for. I defy anyone here to find me an issue where the real Batman has ever said a line "he doesnt deserve sympathy because hes a cute black kid". I'm betting this pattern holds and Usurper Batman sales fall off the cliff after another issue or two especially if the race bullsh@t stays.

That kinda falls in Marxist territory. Yes, it wasn't present in this particular comic, but he has touched on the subject in several other issues.

Wealth redistribution and Marxism aren't the same thing and you know it. But im not getting into a political dissertation here. Its not present in this book, plain and simple.

Writing a character as a hero doesnf meanyou agree with them either. This is such a simple minded view of storytelling. When you write characters that doesnt mean every protagonist is supposed to be your "persona". It means you're writing a fictional character with their own goals and ideas and thoughts. Skilled writers can do that, and skilled readers can make the distinction between the writer and the character. Do you think Nolan agrees with everything Batman says or does in TDK?

And what even is "race baiting" exactly? Acknowledging that racial tensions and disparity exist isn't race baiting. A black cop mentioning it is realistic, not "baiting", its something every black person is cognizant of and some are vocal about. These are characters and fictional individuals and if you want these characters to be written with any sort of relevancy you'll acknowledge that these perspectives exist in real life and so including them isn't a problem.

Writing a character as a hero AND parroting those same talking points in interviews show that's what Ridley actually thinks. I'm not going to get in another one of those never ending conversations just because you're bored and need the attention. I've already brought all the arguments TWICE and you refuse to accept them and just want to live in your parallel reality. Go for it.

Merlyn though brings up a great point on how writers write heroes. Frank Miller gave us a fractured Daredevil with vulnerabilities but still a virtuous hero. Flaws and all.

The punisher though is an u interesting exception. He started as a villian who turned out to be manipulated and renounced his hit on spiderman. The readers liked him and he grew to have his own titles. Hes been written as both hero and anti hero very successfully with chuck dixon giving us a classic vision while Ennis gave us a dark disturbed punisher with a very black humor delivery. Both versions resonate with fans today.

And getting back to Merlyns point on Moore vs Ridley...Dixon and Ennis are political opposites yet both are quality writers writing a character that fans enjoy.

Being poor makes people more likely to commit crimes, because they're more desperate. Gang violence is an excellent example of that. Again, this isn't about you. Society has biases. We can fix this through recognizing that these biases exist, and work on fixing them. We could also greatly increase social welfare to help uplift the poor, so that they have some form of upward social mobility and a safety net so that no one has to go without eating or without a place to live, or without healthcare. Doing that would dramatically decrease crime rates across the board, and create a more moral and just society.

Personally, I have issues with Tamaki’s writing on superhero books. I didn’t mind future state dark detective, but overall, there was not much of a story and that’s Tamkaki’s fault overall. She is better with non hero stuff where she can take her time and write more realistic, little moments. I did not like her X-23 or Wonder Woman books so I am going onto this one with cautious hope. I like to give every issue a chance, but I am worried.

Dan Mora’s art is always good enough to buy a book as well!

@fearUhavemeisenough Comics are my life and Red Hood is my favorite member of the Batfamily. I got a tattoo of his emblem. I have nothing against supporting comics. He was going out of his way to say he DIDN'T support comics because he couldn't be bothered to buy the issue. What I had a problem with is his unnecessary inclusion of how much money he spent on them when it has NOTHING to do with the review or even the subject of this comic. If it was a Red Hood comic, it might have been relevant.
