ForeverRED-YNWA's Profile

Probably the most divisive yet impeccable ending in modern comics. The Miracle Machine as a metaphor for the power of imagination, it is the reader’s choice. Wanting to save the DC Universe through the character who gives superhero comics their meaning: Superman. I would have loved for Didio and the others to have continued with the Fifth World, the new New Gods on Earth, the JL, and their transcendence as mythological figures. Here’s one more demand for Grant’s Hypercrisis: the DC Universe as a living organism.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of Morrison’s Crisis. Batman “breaking his rule” (which he doesn’t actually do). The Scot’s confirmation of the Batman myth. And it all begins where DC begins: Superman.

Darkseid has won, and reality is dragged down with him. This narrative black hole is something Morrison would later take even further with the same idea in Multiversity. The Anti-Life Equation as the consequence when evil wins.

Morrison’s ambition goes completely wild. With space-time collapsing and Earth being dragged into a black hole, the heroes operate in a fragmented reality. The sense of emptiness is total. That said, it doesn’t affect my rating, but Superman Beyond should never have been a tie-in.

The climax of despair. Darkseid takes total control of Earth through the global telecommunications network, Wonder Woman is corrupted by the Furies, and a devastated Superman holds the dying body of Lois Lane. Morrison demonstrates that his scale of destruction has no limits.

The fall of humanity becomes more intimate and brutal. Darkseid turning reality into a total nightmare demonstrates the ruler of Apokolips’ ability to conquer free will, shatter it, and corrupt the very foundations of the DC Universe.

The beginning of the masterpiece that embodies what the DC Universe means and truly is. Turpin, as a link to the abyss, within this fragmented and unknowable monument to the superheroic myth. Morrison, what a genius you are.

t's a shame that #1000 is so mediocre, but honestly, it's not even half as horrible as many people say.

What a great start. I’m not the biggest Percy fan, but this has a lot of potential. Even though the Spider-man and X-men ones haven’t quite convinced me, Midnight F4 sold me on this initiative.

Generally, I’m a huge Hickman fan—his 2010s work is absolutely brutal. But this first issue disappointed me. It feels like Hickman telling the same story over and over again.

Maybe I’m somewhat influenced by all the negativity surrounding Midnight Spider-Man, but honestly, I didn’t like it at all.
