Quite simply this is the best single issue of The Amazing Spider-Man ever. A milestone like this deserves to be celebrated and this issue is an incredible love letter to not just the series, but Spider-Man in general. There’s a story in this 100+ page issue for everyone and it really is worth the price for that and the incredible art along with it. You seriously DO NOT want to pass up on this issue and you need to add this issue to your collection. Read Full Review

This astronomical thousandth issue of ASM does not hold back any punches! The writing from all eight writers stays in line with the lore of Spider-Man and his entire backstory from prior runs. The art is absolutely astonishing! The different styles of art give the reader a gentle refresh from story to story. As important as this issue is to the character of Spider-Man, the team at Marvel Comics really did a fantastic job in how they put this issue together. Fans of Spider-Man NEED to get this issue for their collections! This is a historical issue with amazing variant covers from artists who previously worked on Spider-Man. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man Issue 1000 is a terrific outpouring of history, emotion, and gratitude. There is so much recognition of just how incredible the web-slinger is as a character, as well as of the contributions of countless creators. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is a worthy celebration of more than six decades of Spider-Man, balancing the ongoing series with a wide-ranging collection of stories from creators who clearly understand what makes Peter Parker endure. Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz deliver an emotional start to the Ravager storyline, using Peter's history with Aunt May to make the new threat feel deeply personal. The backups vary in effectiveness, but several are excellent, particularly Noah Hawley and Patrick Gleason's unsettling glimpse into Peter's future, Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen's energetic reunion, and Dan Slott and Marcos Martin's return to a pivotal moment in Spider-Man history. At 104 pages, there's plenty here to make issue #1000 feel appropriately massive. Read Full Review

The Amazing Spider-Man #1000 may not be the most monumental of the character's milestone issues, but it is one still full of heart and beautiful art that serves as a strong celebration of the character in his sixtieth-fourth year, duds and all. Read Full Review

Overall, this issue is a fantastic display of so much talent and love for Spider-Man. Still, there are just enough strange points, from two writers making their comic debut to the main story feeling like the middle chapter of an arc instead of something big on its own, to keep me from declaring it truly spectacular. No John Romita Jr. on art, either, is a massive tragedy. Even if his art has fallen out of favor, he’s still easily Spider-Man’s most important living artist. Still, it’s a love letter to the Web-Slinger that every fan should pick up from their local shop. It’s a treat that is definitely worth the price of admission, and I am very excited for future Spidey stories. Here’s to another thousand Spider-Man issues! Read Full Review

    Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez

    Sep 30, 2026

Amazing Spider-Man #1000 revisits aspects and periods in Spidey’s iconic career with a collection of stories from noted creators to mark the milestone issue’s achievement. Most of the stories land strong, and the art is solid across the board, but there are a few duds in the mix, and the anthology lacks a big wow moment to make the extra pages (and $10 cover price) a must-buy. As a lifelong Spider-Man fan, this issue hit all the right notes for me. I have less than loved Joe Kelly's run, but the way he interweaved Spider-Man history with the current villain was effective, and a good kickoff to the issue. No spoilers here, but each of the supporting stories touches on an aspect of my favorite hero, and left me very satisfied with the $9.99 price. If you are a fan of the wall-crawler, swing on by your LCS and get this one.

It's annoying for me to tell how I feel. Because I am left with a heavy sigh. This book has pretty good regular ASM issue in it, a great what if from Hawley and Gleason, and bunch of small side-stories, where I read and go mostly "pretty good" (or pretty bad), capped off with really good retelling from Martin and Slott.

    But what is this about.

Yeah. Spider-Man. But. Whole ASM is about Spider-Man and is about different stuff, but usually these milestone issues have some sort of connecting tissue. This one doesn’t have really anything. And I think it might be one of the worst milestone -issues I have read. Not because of the content. But because of this being #1000 and such a lackluster one.

The art is good. Pepe Larraz never disappoints.

The rest of it... this might be the worst centenial issue. 900 was bad, at least 1000 looks better. Peter has gone through so much character assassination for the last 100 issues, i want to know why Marvel hates him do much. Peter Parker used to be a great hero, i have loved Spiderman since i was a kid in 90s but seeing this husk of a character now really sucks. Aside from the art, there wasnt much to enjoy here.

Unless you are collecting purely for the sake of having a milestone issue 1000, which i understand, im a collector also, i would recommend avoiding this issue.

It really doesn't make sense after all that business with Hellgate to just introduce another Hellgate who's roughly as interesting to look at (i.e. not at all). Add into it the One-More-Day-like element of "Aunt May injured" and "memories at risk" and it feels like a bad retread of some of the worst elements of modern Spidey.

The issue as a whole earns a 3 for Noah Hawley's story, which is at least compelling, even if it's very odd for a speculative future son of Peter's to be named Miles. Especially in a story focusing so much on his nostalgia for Gwen.

This is a review ONLY of the lead story, with Spoilers Galore.
    1) Whatever happened to "Spidey sense is tingling" when a menace appeared?
    2) In issue # 1 Aunt May was deathly ill. She's "died" once or maybe twice in the ensuing 60 years. Who cares what happens to her anymore?
    3) Cormac's plan worked without revealing his secret. Why blow his cover?
    4) And since he doesn't seem to have any criminal intent other than this, why have a super-villain costume and a name like "Ravage?"
    5) That's a pretty extraordinary super-power, selectively removing all references in someone's brain to a specific person. And it's not just gone, but in an "essence?" Oh, I think we can all see what's coming next.
    6) A 104 page anniversar more

    Astonishingly Awful

    Sep 30, 2026

Let me get this clear upfront: I returned to this title solely because of the Pepe Larraz art. And it is - as usual - excellent.

That being said, I now remember why I wasn't able to fully enjoy this title in the past, even with Larraz on pencils. It's a fucking, never ending therapy session! And ASM #1000 is the epitome of all that.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like stories that dive into the hero's deepest fears and traumata from time to time, but THIS. IS. JUST. TOO. MUCH. It's unbearable. And there's never a resolution, like, for instance, Peter triumphing over the self-destructive navel gazing and returning to being a true hero.
Can we, for one or two issues, just have Peter Parker beating up some bad guys he's not in more
