Three issues in a row I read immediately again after finishing because of the awesome! If you aren't reading Nova, you should be. If you've never read Nova, go dig up the DnA series, even the stuff with Sam was good but won't do you much good here. Even 90s Nova was awesome, 70s Nova was good. This is not only an endorsement of another great current run, but for a character who has a great history more
Nova: Centurion #3
NOVA ON THE VERGE! An old grudge from the Annihilation War comes due as NOVA and RAVENOUS throw down with credits - to say nothing of life and death! - in the balance! Will Rich Rider survive to see a positive number in his bank account?! All is not as it seems, though, and crew member CAMMI will make a discovery that changes everything!
Just offset the unjustified score of 1 that some guy did. Its more of an 8. The run has been fun!
All-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #6
UNFRIENDLY COMPETITION? Gwen's new band competes in a Battle of the Bands! But things get more dangerous than they bargained for when someone unexpected takes the stage by storm. Will Gwen and her band survive?!
I appreciate Mackeys attention to continuity, which I like but it comes with a BUT. It felt like Mackay was trying a bit too hard to remind readers how awesome Annihilation is. It felt a little forced, not terrible, but the reason I couldn't give this a 10. Just a little nitpick. And Cammy looks a bit weird.
If Mackay is going to continue referencing Nova continuity on basically every

RAVENOUS! Taking a job for the gangsters of the Kree/Skrull War, Nova hunts a mysterium thief. But business becomes personal when the trail leads to an old nemesis, and the opportunity to settle old scores going back to the Annihilation War becomes worth more than any reward. Enter the murderer of untold Nova Corpsmen: Ravenous!
Yes, I have some bias because nova is my favourite character so unless this completely disrespected the character I was going to like it. It was awesome to get another Nova comic finally.
McKay knows his continuity. While he does sometimes meander with his plots, i think it's too early to tell here, what i can say is that this writer took the time to know the character before writing a

GOT A PROBLEM? NOVA CAN HELP - FOR A PRICE! With the Xandarian Worldmind, the sentient repository of an entire extinct people's culture and history, relying on regular (and expensive) energy infusions, Richard Rider is for hire. A deep-space drifter weighed down with the truth of the terrible lie that the new Galactic Union was built upon, Nova is ...
This was... okay.
The first half has action that feels disconnected and random. Theres a lot of fights breaking out, that's okay, it just bleeds together in a boring way.
I'm not a fan of the inhumane, so trying to keep that bias aside... it's not much of a status quo shift. The Shiar are on their own... as usual... kree and skrull hate each other... as usual... wakanda is

Part FOUR of a four-part Marvel cosmic event! WAR!
I enjoyed the overall story, enjoyed the art and I like where things are headed. However, I've got a few gripes that keep it from being a 10.
World mind... last we saw worldmind was after it was infected and seemingly destroyed in the cancerverse. Did I miss something else? There's just a backup on the ruins of xandar waiting there? I like having nova and worldmind back together, no co

Part THREE of a four-part Marvel cosmic event! As the conflict begins to spread out to the wider universe! We find out who's really orchestrating the great game of cosmic houses as the last chance to stop a universal war presents itself. Will our heroes be able to stop it in time?
MacKays Avengers started out awesome. It's been losing steam the past 6 or 7 issues. I think pacing is it's biggest problem. The stuff with black cat was boring and the past 2 issues focusing on Sam were really boring. I think because Sam Wilson is among the least interesting characters in comics. So I'm happy black panther returned and that made a big difference! Sam and his... city suit... it's more

THE RETURN OF THE BLACK PANTHER!
While T'CHALLA was away, THE MASTERS OF EVIL were at play! With the rest of the Avengers tied up with Doctor Doom, the Masters of Evil have been plotting the downfall of the Avengers...from the inside! Can Black Panther's return turn the tide?

I rate things based on how much I enjoyed it. I think everyone does, but some people just try to fool themselves into thinking objectivity is a thing in an out of 10 rating.
There's a lot to like here - that's why it's a 9. It's a good set up, and I subjectively love marvel cosmic stuff!
But how is Ronan around? Did I miss his resurrection?? I like Hickman, I'm leaning towa

I thought this issue was a lot of fun. I like most things Kamala is involved in because she's a fantastic character. Seeing her interact with character in the past was entertaining. I'm glad the continuity of her friendship with young cyclops from champions was remembered.
My biggest complaint was that it was a little slow, but most comics are these days. It's nothing unique to this is

I say this as someone who thinks Zeb Wells has the worst run in spiderman ever. I read this all much later, and from the library so I didn't have to pay for it. I'm here to give credit where credit is due. I actually liked this story. I like that Norman didn't return to status quo. I liked the art. I liked that (just barely) Ben Reilly had a dash of himself again. Returning Ben to his former self more

I'll just say this... stick to ultimate spiderman.
Remember when marvel was intentionally trying to ruin the xmen brand before they got the movie rights back??? It feels like marvel is intentionally trying to ruin spiderman for reasons I don't know. But the past few years of bad writing, horrible characterization makes me think someone at Marvel wants to tank the character. Previews fo

THE 8 DEATHS OF SPIDER-MAN CONTINUES!
Spider-Man has been broken, and someone needs to pick up the pieces. Maybe an old flame?
Now that the CHAMPION has fallen, can the universe withstand what comes next?
Are there any who can stand in the way of an inevitable god?

It might be similar to what Marvel did with the X-Men before the FOX merger. Write them into obscurity so their stock and popularity are so low that the owners can't make a profit off of them. In this case Sony. I don't think it's really to that level yet because Spider-Man movies will pretty much always sell, X-Men are a little harder to do but it's A reason I could think of.
The comics are never going to influence outside media monetarily. The point of handicapping the Spider-Man brand (and X-Men before it) is to limit new avenues for Sony (and Fox) to take their IP.
I need this to be an ongoing series. There's so few ongoing series that are interesting right now. Ultimate Universe aside, which is awesome, main 616 is at an all-time boring level of writing right now, but then little gems like this cone out and remind me it could still be awesome again.
Marvel Tales: Doctor Doom & Rocket Raccoon #1
JMS UNITES UNLIKELY DUOS FROM ALL ACROSS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE!
J. Michael Straczynski brings his incredible character work to beloved Marvel characters great and small in a series of exciting one-shots! First up: Doctor Doom and Rocket, drawn by the inimitable Will Robson!
Doctor Doom does the one thing he never wants to do: ask for a favor!...
I rate things based on how it made me feel. Trying to rate something objectively is a ridiculous pursuit in my opinion. It's all subjective.
And this issue is bloody fantastic! From character work, the art, the ending, it's a fun ride and a comic I will read again and again. It's a 10 because this is why I read comics. Great stories like this.

This comic epitomizes what is wrong with DC. You have two mercenaries in Snyder and Williamson leading the pack of mundane and uninspired writers. These are cannibals, picking at the feet of their betters, scraping the tombstone library of story-past for any epitaph to sustain an event or story arc or whatever you want to call the derivative droll they put out.
Long gone are the days of

My enjoyment of this series comes from a few things. First, I'll buy anything with Kaine. I love that character. Second, I'm optimistic this series will fix Ben Reilly. Marvel has been screwing with Ben since Slott brought him back. I hate what Wells did to him and hope that this series fixes him. So I'm enjoying the series because so far, it looks like that might happen.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Kaine is one of my favorite characters so I'm on board when he shows up. I also HATE Ben Reilly as a villian, (screw you Zeb Wells and your historically crappy Spiderman run) so I'm hopeful this series fixes that. Whether it does or not, the set up was a lot of fun, and I'm excited for what comes next.

Peter Parker's secret life starts fraying the edges of his personal life! J. Jonah Jameson and Ben Parker's pursuit of truth - or, at least, the news - stirs unrest with the world at large... And now that Spider-Man may not have to operate alone, the real work of rebuilding this corrupt world can begin!

At least Ultimate Spiderman is interesting... I knew this was basically a comic previewing upcoming spiderman stories. It's all crap though.
Ultimate Spiderman and Superior Spiderman are good, but they have not much to do with what's in here. I hate Zebs Wells Peter Parker, it's the worst take on the character that has ever been in comics, I hate what's happened to Ben Reilly, and now
