Aug 26, 2026Amazing Spider-Man #35 (LGY #999) does exactly what a penultimate milestone issue needs to do, putting Peter Parker’s personal life under serious pressure while keeping the superhero action moving. Joe Kelly juggles Aunt May, Damage Control, Peter’s space friends, and Ghost-Spider without making the issue feel overcrowded, while Francesco Manna delivers strong action and some surprisingly emotional character work. The Ghost-Spider turn could use more room to breathe, but its larger purpose becomes clear as Peter begins questioning Damage Control. Most importantly, the final developments leave Peter in an intriguing place heading into issue #1000. Read Full Review

Joe Kelly’s script does nothing with Cormac Crane or Damage Control, except introduce a few teases and end on a potentially strong cliffhanger. I think post Spore issues, I've had really hard time to say how I feel about Kelly's issues. I don't have clue how it's going to go, and lack of connections to Hellgate and other stuff (so far) feels odd.
But on the other hand, the stuff is at worst very decent. I haven't hated anything, I enjoy every issue more or less, so I shouldn't really complain.
I think the biggest reason is the looming #1000. It is a massive thing for Marvel, I think first of it's kind and many have waited for this, with high expectations. Or ready to be negative about it because no MJ and no marriage. I can't imagine the stress Joe feels about it.
This issue is fine. And I think if I thought the next issue as just #36, I would feel much b more+ Like • Comment -
