Daredevil #11 pulls the hero up from one of his deepest lows. That guilt and sadness that fills Matt radiate from him in this issue, wallowing in grief. Daredevil #11 does not come close to meeting the quality standards that this series is known for. This is the first issue of Chip Zdarsky's run that was a disappointment. I feel like nothing more thoroughly exemplifies the register that this comic operates in than the fact that I feel moved to use the phrase "calm before the storm" to describe an issue where the protagonist stabs out his own eyes

Another disturbing issue that continues to shock me. It’s clear that Zdarsky is tying up all his loose ends from the past several years, but I still have no idea where this story is going to end up. The themes of trauma are heavy, and seeing Cole North finally lose his faith in the justice system is really sad, but feels fitting after everything he’s been through. This issue has a backup Iron Fist story for some reason, but it’s not really worth mentioning and I’m not taking it into account in my rating. I’m not sure when it’s supposed to be set, but it’s definitely out of place with current continuity.

Great issue that's finally back to the high standard this run had before Devil's Reign. It's a shame the Fist arc went on so long that it really diminished the run and hoping that the rest of the story keeps up this momentum.

Daredevil takes grim, powerful steps while beating himself up. This issue throws a cool twist in the plot, and the fill-in art does a decent job of making it feel properly powerful. Matt's tied up in his own head in a deeply unhealthy way, though. This arc is already tragic and it looks like it's only going to get darker. The backup strip is unfortunate. It's not bad, but it's not particularly good, either. And it's an incredible mismatch in tone for the high tragedy of the current arc--neither its premise nor its portrayal of Daredevil complement the A strip in any way.

Zdarsky is a good writer, but he continues to do things that are inexplicable. DD cuts out his eyes in front of the Stromwyns, who don't know that DD has radar sense, so why would they make a deal with a powerless blind man? DD enters the meeting declaring he's not there for revenge, but then takes (illegal) actions that show he definitely was. As far as I know, the world still believes the world leaders, including POTUS, were asssasinated. So are they REALLY just going to spring Elektra from the clink and expunge her record? Is the public not going to demand action? Besides,is it even remotely plausible that the STromwyns can make ONE phone call and supervillains get a "Get out of jail free" card? So many implausible events.

This was an interesting issue. He gives himself up, only to spring a trap on them that gets pretty disgusting. I have no idea why there is a backup story here. I have no desire to read about an iron fist that is not Danny Rand. A waste of my time and money.

I'm going to dock it a little due to the back up story. I can't stand when Marvel adds them out of nowhere gor the extra dollar. Also, the main story is alright. I think it had a good.premise on paper, but it also just seemed so odd. Not sure what to think about where this will all lead.

One of God's first lessons for the world was fear? Fear of losing His love? Man it grinds my gears to no end when Daredevil writers show that they have no depth of understanding about biblical matters. Chip's theology sucks. Other than that, art was decent, it was nice to see the Stromwyns finally get theirs, even if it came after a bit of a weirdly extreme tactic from Matt. Also, Cole and Matt have been far too pessimistic for my taste throughout this run. It makes me miss Waid and Soule's Daredevil runs. Those writers actually wrote a Daredevil who believed he could make a difference no matter how hopeless it seemed or how corrupt the system was. You stare into the face of injustice and you keep fighting it back, even if it seems like it's winning the day. Cole and Matt just come across like they're throwing in the towel. This is not inspiring by any stretch. more

SPOILER Daredevil cutting out his own eye was WAAAAY over the top. The backup story was better than I expected in that it was just a fun story, a nice change of pace from the perpetual beat downs that have characterized Zdarsky’s run over all.
