This run has been so incredible that it's almost a cliche at this point to say how good it is, but this issue really drives home what makes it so good.
Daredevil is often paired and contrasted with Spider-Man and the Punisher as his good and evil twins. Obviously the way his engagement with both moral and judicial laws makes him different from the Punisher has been done time and again, but it's really the contrast with Spider-Man that's revealing: whereas Spider-Man is cursed by "the ol Parker luck", a confluence of bad outcomes from unambiguously good actions, Matt Murdock is a man who makes his own luck — which makes it damning that all his luck is so bad. He's a tragic hero in the classical sense, a good man who will inevitably fai
l as a result of his own flaws. As Elektra so perfectly puts it in this issue, "A pious narcissist". Perhaps nobody, not even Miller/Mazzucchelli or Bendis/Maleev, has understood this so well or communicated it so perfectly as Zdarsky/Checchetto have in this run.
Matt is, and will always be, a man who can imagine and even achieve Elektra's salvation, but deep in his heart he'll never be able to believe in his own. And so he'll always be damned, not because he deserves it, but because he can't imagine himself going anywhere but Hell.
I could go on all day about how beautiful and tragic the romance is, about how exquisite Checchetto makes every single panel, but the heart of why I love this comic (even when it misses a bit, as with the Goldy arc) is that Zdarsky & Checchetto just *get* this character, and why his inevitably half-futile actions can be so gripping in the right hands. I don't envy whoever is going to have to follow this. more

This is absolutely phenomenal with brilliant writing and beautiful artwork. This has been one of my all-time favorite runs on daredevil and I really don't want it to end

Perfection in comic book form.
This is why we read. This is what I'm here for and why I'll never leave.
I really wish I could say more to explain this feeling but I can't. This is cinema. This is art. Its beautiful. You see all those tens? They're legit. They are real.
When I started reading Zdarsky daredevil it was my first real run on the character. And yet.... I feel like I've been here for ages. Everything, his past present and future all comes to this.
If you've ever been a daredevil fan... even if you've not even started this run. Do it. From the beginning. Its worth it.
And see me back here.

I… don’t know what to say… this is the best issue I have ever read… it’s perfect. And the art… best I’ve seen in a comic book. Wow… I’m speechless.

Stupendous. Tragic, beautiful, disturbing—Zdarsky and Chechetto are going out with a bang.
Also I’m so happy we finally got to see Blindspot again! I thought he’d be forever ignored.

Finally an issue that gets back to the quality that Chip is capable of but hasn't been meeting for a while. This was a really cool issue, and the art was fantastic. It was awesome to see Blindspot again, although I gotta say...as incredible as Checchetto's art is, he didn't do a very good job of making Sam look Asian... I noticed the same thing when he drew Kirsten McDuffie too...she didn't seem to have the slightly darker skin tone she's supposed to when Checchetto drew her. Maybe he just has a hard time drawing races other than black and caucasian for some reason? I don't know.

It's an elegant and powerful chapter thanks to all-around formidable storytelling.
Death is rarely permanent in comics, particularly not in this franchise. The script makes enough nods and hangs enough lampshades on that to establish awareness without compromising the drama.
Of course, the real tragedy is that the lack of true death cuts both ways. Even if Daredevil wins big, his win is unlikely to be permanent.
Quibble: I maintain that "Daredevil fights Elektra and it's a sexy dance" is an over-used cliche. This is one of the most beautiful executions of it, though.

Another fine book by Zdarsky, but can we stop trying to "drag" Matt "lower?!" I need to be able to root for my heros, and it's hard to do that when I know their writers have it in for them! (Wells, I'm looking at you!)

Am I the only one who didn't think this was the best thing ever? I'm a huge fan of this run, but I did not feel the connection with this issue. I found parts of it to be really well crafted. I just can't put my finger on why I didn't love it.
