Jan 18, 2022While the stakes are high, this is a really funny issue with a lot of great character beats"which makes it all the more disturbing when Heartless shows up again at the end of the issue, claiming another heart and making clear that Blockbuster is not the scariest thing in Bludhaven. Easily one of the books I look forward to the most each month from DC. Read Full Review

Jan 19, 2022Nightwing #88 does a great job telling a complete story in a single issue. Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo bring the focus back to Bludhaven and Dick Grayson's new mission with the Alfred Pennyworth foundation. In the process we get a lot of great character work as we see how important both the Batman and Titans Family are to Dick Grayson's life. With all of that and the developments around Blockbuster and Heartless it'll be very interesting to see where Taylor and Redondo take Nightwing next. Read Full Review

Jan 19, 2022It's Nighwing and his amazing friends as one of DC Comics' best titles continues doing what it does best, as the creators pour their entire hearts onto the page every single time. This is a book not just for fans of Nightwing or the rest of the Bat-family, but for those that are fans of the DC Universe and the deep strong character relationships it has long been known for. Jan 18, 2022Nightwing #88 is a quick-moving issue that shows how much Dick is loved, but the Titans (and more) showing up to save the day may do more harm than good down the line. The art is fantastic, and I liked the interactions, but Dick needs to stand on his own more in this book as we advance. Read Full Review

Jan 19, 2022It's another solid entry in the Taylor and Redondo Nightwing run, with solid writing and solid artwork. My criticisms are closer to observations than anything that prevented me from digging the issue. Happy to see the consistency and looking forward to next issue. Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - Dispatchdcu
Jan 18, 2022The Gen Z tone dates the issue too much and makes NIGHTWING relatable to the current younger demographic but also takes away from the characteristics that make NIGHTWING who he is. This just feels more like a common tone in Taylor's style right now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing it's just not reflective of the character and more on society and social trends bleeding into the dynamic of the character. Batman-News - Michael Escalante
Jan 18, 2022Nightwing #88 is an entertaining issue with an adrenaline shot of action the series has desperately needed. While I appreciate Taylor's scripts ramping up the tension, the constant fan service often defangs situations that should be harder to overcome. A defenseless Dick Grayson with a target on his back is a great premise for an arc. It's a little less compelling when his group of superhero friends keeps showing up. Read Full Review

Jan 20, 2022This remains a great run full of fun character moments and fantastic art, this issue just doesn't work because the threat here feels too small to ruin the reality of the Bat-books by calling in the Titans to save the day. Read Full Review
