I'm so glad that Ewing is finally getting to the meat of the arc. We now have explanations for a fair bit that we were missing and we have some excellent bits that have been set up for future issues. Absolute Green Lantern #5 is a prime example of a comic that struggles to find its footing. The narrative ambiguity is overwhelming, leaving readers more frustrated than entertained. While there are hints of interesting ideas, they are lost in the chaotic execution of both the writing and the art. After 3 consecutive issues where barely anything happened to move the present-day storyline forward, we finally get progress and forward momentum this issue, and quite exciting momentum at that. A nice rebound for the series, and hopefully a sign of things to come.

I feel very similarly to the way I've felt over the course of the whole series. This is good and interesting, with a lot of good mystery surrounding it. I completely trust Ewing here, as I know how good he is. Lindsay is putting out good work here as well. I definitely see the manga/anime comparisons, though he's won me over with his work thus far.

While Absolute Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter aren't my favorite bunch of the Absolute series but I still think they are very good. I like how this Absolute Universe twists Ab in Sur and Hector Hammond, and the art has grown on me

Sojourner Mullein really is an annoying character. Her power was stolen, which caused the death of an entire city, and then she had the nerve to stand on the moral high ground and accuse Hal. BTW does Ewing know that Green Lantern Oath was originally written by Hal in Silver Age canon? He really changed it into a cheap love word of a broken couple?
