Ultimately, Absolute Green Lantern #5 delivers a turning point: a haunting exploration of memory, guilt, and power, anchored by a devastating personal conflict. As Hals transformation into an unstoppable menace becomes more literal and Jos resolve hardens, the series reaffirms itself as one of the most compelling horrortinged superhero narratives in the Absolute Universe. Its a bold escalation that pays off the slow burn of earlier issues while opening new, unsettling lines of inquiry. For fans invested in what Jo and Hal might becomeor destroythis issue is not to be missed. Read Full Review

The Comic Book Spot - Greg Thomson

I'm so glad that Ewing is finally getting to the meat of the arc. We now have explanations for a fair bit that we were missing and we have some excellent bits that have been set up for future issues. Lindsay's artwork is great, aside from some of the background linework that lets the quality of each panel down just a bit. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Aug 08, 2025

Absolute Green Lantern #5 is a prime example of a comic that struggles to find its footing. The narrative ambiguity is overwhelming, leaving readers more frustrated than entertained. While there are hints of interesting ideas, they are lost in the chaotic execution of both the writing and the art. It's a shame, as the potential is there, but this issue simply fails to deliver a cohesive or engaging experience. Read Full Review
