Jo is a green lantern from a series called far sector. It's a good story. I didn't care for the art. But making Jo the lead here with the other green lanterns as supporting characters was a mistake. One of the great things about absolute is simplicity of approach. This isn't well executed. And I'm a big Al Ewing fan from 2000ad days on Zombo.

Jun 04, 2025Absolute Green Lantern #3 hits us with a shocking ending but, still leaves us with even more questions than answers. The art team is making each panel pop out visually and Al is not afraid of taking risks in this new rendition. I just hope the story starts to move a little more going forward. Read Full Review

Jun 04, 2025Absolute Green Lantern #3 is an interesting, albeit brief, entry that lays down crucial plot points for the series. Jun 05, 2025Because everything is told in a flashback fashion there is some missing tension because you sort of expect what happens to happen. Hopefully once we get the timeline back to the present day the story will reach its full potential. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez
Jun 04, 2025Absolute Green Lantern #3brings to light an interesting revelation about Abin Sur's power, but there's not much more to the issue. Al Ewing's homage to sci-fi horror has the right tone, but the pacing is too slow, and the lack of urgency and wow moments is an energy killer. Jahnoy Lindsay's artwork is a great fit for the sci-fi horror feel, but it's not enough to save the script's inability to grab you. Read Full Review

Another super intriguing issue here. This is definitely a slow burn, but I don't mind when what we're getting is interesting. Luckily, there's enough here to keep my attention. I would like for, at least, some answers soon. I don't want everything at once, obviously, as you wouldn't want everything spelled out for you as it's happening. However, I'd like SOMETHING soon.

Unfortunately, it's the absolute worst title, although this chapter was the best so far.

Very intriguing things happen in both the present and recent past, but it's all moving a bit too slow without providing any answers. One thing I feel confident about: I think both John and Guy are still with us. Yeah, they both got zapped, but I'm starting to think maybe they were transported somewhere. There's no way the writer killed both of them off, especially John.

The only weak Absolute series. I suppose it was unrealistic to expect such continued quality. I'm very new to Green Lantern. I'm currently reading Geoff John's GL run, which is absolutely magical. I'm also watching the Bruce Timm CGI animated series, which is like a mix between Star Trek and Star Wars Clone Wars. None of the spirit of any of that is in this comic. Who is the lead woman and how is she so powerful? Can someone with a GL background explain?

Just goes to show how comics really are a visual medium. It's not that this comic is bad, it's that the tone of the story, a horror atmosphere set in the Green Lantern universe, absolutely does not match Jahnoy Lindsay's art. The tone and the visuals clash so much it actually pulls me out of the story. I know Ewing was traumatized by Joe Bennet, but he needs to learn to trust artists again. (And I'm sorry, but if you're doing an Absolute Green Lantern series, at least use John Stewart or Hal Jordan as the main protagonist.)

Well done, Al Ewing. The greatest Green Lantern punched and lectured by a shit character who can't sell her own book. Is that what you said "Absolute Universe is about modernizing the heroes while staying true to their core"? That is how you stay true to the core of Green Lantern?
