Plot Tony Stark/Iron Lad, Reed Richards/Doctor Doom, Sif and Thor traveled six months in the future at the time of the New York attack, hence their sudden disappearance. Tony and Doom managed to unfreeze Captain America, while helping Thor heal his magical wounds and regain his strength. Tony Strak is very young, so his impulsiveness is hilarious and adolescent. Doom on the other hand doesn't seem to lose his cool, but his intentions are unclear at times. Iron Lad and Doctor Doom control The Maker's Immortus Engine and can travel through time, so they give themselves an 18-month deadline to make this alternate world the way it should have been without The Maker's interference. Using advanced mathematics and algorithms, Stark and D oom select the best people to take up the mantle of heroes who don't exist. Leaving aside those people who should have been heroes, Captain America warns them that a hero is born, not created. The time travel plan fails, so the new plan is to look for all that hero that never was, they start with Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym, both become Wasp and Giant Man. The Pym particles in this universe made Hank, a supergiant who with just one step defeated Captain Britain's entire army of musts. Let's remember that Captain Britain was part of the elite of superhumans who worked for The Maker. If heroes are predestined to be a multiversal constant, so are villains, will Doctor Doom claim his legacy or claim Reed Richards' legacy? The Ultimates return, however as they are led by Iron Lad, they are branded terrorists. Spectacular start to a new saga. Art It is very detailed with strong influences from Asian art/manga but perfectly adapted to Western comics. I just started reading the new Ultimate stuff starting with Spidey and loved it so I wanted to try this. I must say this is excellent and has some really interesting concepts and characters. I actually find Iron Lad' anger toward his father to be a good hook and how they are trying to bring the 616 back. Marvel is not perfect but certainly between this and Ultimate Spider and Black Panther there is a lot more going on here than at DC unfortunately. Can't wait to read next issues when I have more time.

The point that hit home for me the most was this uplifting of man as gods. Something CAMP (not Hickman, who's messaging really likes to work with in his own writing) seemed to tackle well. Tony's inner monologue, journal entries and the direct allusions to his "success" on the seventh day, who do gods pray to? It's fantastic. The most surprising aspect of the issue is the reveal that despite so many of the origin-boxes being sent out, only a handful actually worked. This is still a very grounded universe because it is choosing not to be overpopulated with larger than life figures and is having to navigate it's own way to correcting itself. Humans being gods.

Dude I read plenty of indie stuff, I just don't review everything I read. I find fault plenty with both Marvel and DC. Both with their portrayals of representation and politics. You defend a racist artist and spout slurs.

How is it false if he did it? We all know he did it. And he did it in a Marvel product. You're defending that? It's also pretty universally accepted that he was a phenomenal artist, he's just a garbage person for the things he's said and done and going as far as to include them in his artwork. That's indefensible.

Joe Bennett didn't *just* get fired for his anti-semitic art that he snuck into Immortal Hulk. He was an ardent supporter of Bolsonaro, who I'm sure Tempter is a big fan of, but for most people is a disgraceful far right bigotted embarrassment. He also publicly cheered on and made homophobic comments about journalist Glen Greenwald being assaulted. (Not that Greenwald isn't terrible himself, mind you).

And if you could look past all of that, look at who he collaborated with post his Marvel termination. He collaborated with someone called Vox Day, a self-proclaimed far right white supremacist who thinks women shouldn't have rights. He didn't just roll in the mud with comicsgate. He hooked up with someone that even comicsgate as a whole thinks is pushing things too far. And this shouldn't be surprising given the way he used dehumanizing traits to depict Bolsonaro's political enemies in his art.

Joe Bennett is a talented artist, that cannot be denied. But he's also a terrible person who believes in disgusting and shameful things. Tempter, by defending him so much, just outs themself as a genuinely terrible person who ought to be ashamed of themselves but doesn't have the wits to recognize it. The type of person that blathers so much you don't need a doctorate to diagnose them. He ought to be taken off the site, for everyone's sake, including his own.

I wasn't sure how to feel about this when it was announced, purely because the only thing I had read from Camp prior to this was his Children of the Vault miniseries. I didn't dislike it by any means, but it wasn't something I thought was incredible or anything. All of that said, I regret ever having the slightest bit of doubt. It's not a perfect first issue, but it was still very good. A lot of intriguing things going on here, andI think everything was handled well. Frigeri does a fantastic job of bringing everything to life here, as well. This is starting out strongly, with only Ultimate Spider-Man having a better debut issue, in my opinion, and I have a feeling I'm really going to like where this goes.

A great start to this universe. Kept my attention and I wanted to see more. Deniz Camp layered the scenes in this script in such a manner that it just kept working. Juan Frigeri's art is a perfect match or this book, detailed and feels fresh with some very nice colors by Federico Blee. This Ultimate Universe looks more promising. Lastly, this just bothered me: if a god needs to pray to another god then simply they're not a god. Simple really even in make believe land. It made that whole scene collapse on its own.

Great start to a cool reimagined Avengers. I always loved how the ultimates gave us different versions of familiar characters this did not disappoint.

I thought it was good, but the first part with Iron Lad and Doom was a little on the boring side. Loved the scenes with Hank and Jan. The socially reflective themes demonstrated with the Moloid hatred and with the media twisting the truth was well done. Looking forward to seeing this story progress.
