Was this Hickman's best performance? No. But was it still an interesting read worth the price? Definitely. If you like to think and speculate over plot threads and possibilities, this series is totally for you. Read Full Review

Ultimate Invasion has revealed itself to not be a mystery box, but rather a multi-faceted vision of a radically different timeline in which a strange and unpredictable future may unfold. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

Ultimate Invasion #4 subtly gives us some tasty nuggets, but is mostly made up of uninteresting fight scenes. It falters as you haven't had enough time to get to know most of the characters. Thus, it's a series of events that could lead to some interesting developments in the Ultimate Universe, but not enough to call this miniseries truly special. Read Full Review

The draw of Ultimate Invasion #4 is its setup of a new Ultimate Universe. It does that and does that pretty well. But, the issue, and series as a whole, rushes through explanation and background of key characters and moments delivering a reading experience that feels like the Cliff's Notes version of a series rather than laying a strong foundation and groundwork. Add in a cover price of $8.99 and it's hard to really recommend the single issue. This is an event as a whole that might be better as a collection. Read Full Review

Ultimate Invasion #4 is a mixed bag of flashy concepts with little payoff. Hickman tries once again to start off another epic but may have gone off the rails prematurely. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez

Ultimate Invasion #4 looks great, but it's a mess. Hickman tries to get fancy with Time and Reality in the Maker's bid to create a Utopia in opposition to Kang, but the plot gets lost in the shuffle halfway through. Truly, I can't describe exactly what happened, so if the goal was to lead into and get hyped for future Ultimates stories by Hickman, this mini-series missed the mark. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Sep 27, 2023

Ultimate Invasion #4 solidified how big of a disappointment this entire event was. So much is expected from a Jonathan Hickman comic book that this left a lot to be desired. The entire execution of The Maker and new Ultimate Universe storyline failed to generate interest. The story was as meaningless as all the clone vs clone climatic battle we got in Ultimate Invasion #4. That leaves us with an Ultimate Universe that is not fresh and exciting. Instead, you're left questioning if the investment in another Marvel Universe will be worth it. Read Full Review
