Amazing Spider-Man #91 continues the Beyond storyline with Peter Parker and Ben Reilly teaming up against the Beyond Corporation. However, the story and team-up with the two Spider-Men is less thrilling than expected as they face Beyond's weird villain rejects. Overall, Amazing Spider-Man #91 had the elements to be a great comic book. Unfortunately it is weighed down by how rushed Ben Reill's character arc and Beyond Corporation's full heel turn has turned out. This issue was like a fun roller coaster that makes your body hurt after you ride it. Many highs, and lows, the change in artists was jarring. Unlike most however, I was a fan of the art overall. I cant lie though, something about the THWIP barrage was insanely hilarious to me. What an image. The ending was also great. I found the slow build and reveal of door z rendered and written in classic Spidey fashion.

I use to really enjoy Sara pichelli’s art but lately it’s been going down in quality. I didn’t even realize it was pichelli at first. While not the completely bad, I did find myself thinking the art was bothersome at times throughout the issue. Otherwise I thought it was a great issue!

This issue is solid. Which is kind of a disappointment after the heights of the previous issue. I think Kelly Thompson might be the weakest writer of this Beyond era, and that pains me to say because I love her work, but something just seems off. Maybe she was rushed. Sara Pichelli is similarly disappointing. Her art is serviceable, but noticeably less good. Nothing here is bad by any means, it's just not what you'd expect coming up on the finale to this run.

the story's fun, but the art is such an issue here. Sara Pichelli is amazingly talented, her work on Miles Spider-Man is some of the best art in modern comics. She also gets the excuse of losing her main colorist Justin Ponsor, which is a tragedy. However, her art in this issue just looks insanely lazy. The art also feels so rushed, and this is where most people would say that's because of the weekly release schedule. But each issue has had different pencillers mostly. I don't know what else to say. Other than that, the story is pretty good, but I would hesitate to recommend this issue solely because the art is not good at all.

Not excusing the quality of the art but she changed her style or her style had to change because of her back injury which prevents her working for a prolonged period. I'm sure you noticed that she can't finish books anymore. I wish her the best but her art is suffering from her back problems.

Yeah It's an old injury and not recent but her art has never been the same since that happened. She does not use it as an excuse but it hurts to see since as you said she is very talented. I agree with you that the art switcheroo midway was not good. I wish they get one artist per issue or put her on projects that won't come out until the art is finished.

It was fun and bit of change from the previous ones. This beyond series doesn't have one unique identity by design and it suffers for it. Kelly Thompson does good and has many good quips but the way the issue goes around itself to get to the end was forced. Sara Pichelli style has changed and she can't finish issues anymore because of her back injuries. It's good but it has changed. The second artist change was jarring and took away from the issue overall.

Ben out there giving us another "see ya chump", i guess he missed the part where that is his problem. Is the end of Beyond him coming full circle and becoming Bully Maguire? Kelly Thompson is one of my favorite writers working in comics today, and while the issues she wrote for beyond so far haven't been close to some of her other works like Hawkeye, Black Widow and Captain Marvel, it's still fun and a good read. Beyond has been a very fun arc, but the inconsistency between issues can be a problem sometimes, it's not the worst thing in the world but is disappointing to go from consecutive amazing issues like 75-76 and 89-90 to just a couple of fun issues. I must say however, something is off about Sara Pichelli's Art and i can't quit e put my finger on it, i don't know if it's rushed because of the tight schedule or if it's the colors, but it feels inferior to her stellar work in Ultimate Spider-Man, even her more recent works like Fantastic Four and the JJ Abrams god awful Spider-Man Miniseries feels more consistent. more

I thought that the dialogue was the strongest part of this issue. It had me actually smiling and laughing whenever Ben and Peter were bantering back and forth. Even between Colleen and Misty. Great buddy cop dialogue in tense situations pays off here. What doesn't is the disjointed pacing. I'm not sure if it's to reflect how shattered Ben's mind is but things fly at you fast and I'm not the biggest fan. On that note, the change in artists abruptly within the last 6 pages was jarring. I though Pichelli's art here was better than I have seen it for a while at to have it chopped off right at the end was a disappointment.

IMO the weakest entry in the main ASM Beyond books so far. Pichelli's art was inconsistent, and most of the plot felt like anime filler lol. Still looking forward to how this finishes and hope this story wraps up strong!

I hate to downrate creators I admire, but this issue just doesn't meet the arc's established "good not great" standard for art and writing. It's an average comic at best. The script does quipping and snarky banter well -- but this is the wrong part of the story for that. Ben's breakdown calls for tension, and the comedy and the slow pace produce the opposite effect. (I'm also thoroughly underwhelmed by the "Door Z" reveal.) The art is wildly dissonant. Sara Pichelli at the start and Fran Galán at the end are drawing completely different comics. (Watch Maxine; they can't even keep her outfit straight.) And there's a transitional zone in the middle, drawn by I don't know which artist, that doesn't match either end.

You’ve heard of the expression “a series of ups and downs”??? That is the perfect way to describe the Beyond era. Some weeks, I am like “yay, this is awesome” and others I am like “okay, enough, bring Peter back full-time”. This is the latter.

Peter and Ben fighting chickens. Horrible writing (the dialogues are completely out of place) and I really don't know what happened to Pichelli's art (it sucks badly here). Giant step back from the great previous issues.

I'm a big Kelly Thompson fan for most of her books but this issue was just such nonsense full of terrible "jokes" for what should have been a big issue with healthy Peter back to work with Ben.
