This book is a rich opening act to what is hopefully a long sci-fi epic. The art is gorgeous, the characters are intriguing, and while we dont know much about the actual world beyond its basics, I'm sure we are going to learn a lot more about Exodus in the coming issues. The artwork is phenomenal. Fabok and Anderson have created a new world that feels relatable to our own with subtle changes that make in feel ever so unnatural. It's a thin line that they walk with grace. I believe Rook's solo debut was a resounding success, and this science fiction, Mad Max like story is the beginning of something extraordinary! Plot Rook is a farmer who moved to the planet Exodus in the year 2173, like millions who emigrated with the promise of improving their lives as planet Earth was becoming uninhabitable. The technology for farmers and ranchers is such that it allowed them to control the fauna necessary for crops and livestock to be produced at maximum efficiency, that is, depending on your field, you could control different animals with your mind. Rook is in charge of the corn fields and the crows are his animals to control. But something happened on the planet Exodus, the machine that terraforms this planet is failing and an environmental catastrophe is unleashing and the planet is becoming uninhabitable, with little water and food scarce, while th e fauna is experiencing mutations that make them dangerous and those who control it begin now have immeasurable power. Rook is about to finish his ship to leave Exodus, but he has little time left and the current situation is complex, with little food for him and his crows not to mention that he could fall prey to anyone who wants to take away his ship. This series begins with impressive power and a direct and raw narrative of how a society collapses, analyzing the importance of the means of production and converting agriculture and livestock into a kind of biological weapon, it is undoubtedly a universe with the that we can identify with a BRILLIANT premise. Art Jason Fabok offers his art so detailed where everything makes sense, recreating new worlds with futuristic technology and making it believable, each page hypnotizes and gives chills. Summary Rook is running out of time to escape from a world that promises to be paradise and is now hell. Excellent start to a new universe that is a totally relevant and impactful analogy for our times in which we live more

This is a FRIGGIM GRAND SLAM. Wow. I've seen a lot of rumbling about ghost machihe but haven't read much into it. I knew they had some well respected creators on board but I didnt pick up the Ghost Machine big first issue. I did, however pick up this. Id pretty much already decided by the look of the main character Id at least give it a shot. What I didnt expect to have one of my favorite issue 1 in the last year. This book is pretty much without flaw as far as great comics go. Well crafted, well written, well set, and in CREDIBLY well drawn. Jason fabok is no stranger to accolade and acclaim but dear God this book is beautiful to look at. And the writing is no slouch either. I always say you know a book is good when you fee l like you didn't pay ENOUGH for it. The Ghost Machine dudes just made their opening statement, and the entire industry needs to be listening. more

I could nitpick this down to a 9.5 if I really wanted to, but I don't. This book reminds me of "Aliens" (1986) in that it's a very straightforward idea that's elevated by outstanding across-the-board, maximum-effort execution.

There seems to be a sudden switch away from the dross of yesteryear into what I call intelligent thought provoking stories that seem to find an artist at the very top of his game. As a number 1 issue for a new reader this is how to write a comic.

This was really, really good. I've always been much more of a science fiction person than just about anything else but somehow I've never really jumped into a lot of sci-fi comics. Seems odd considering the medium lends itself very well to it because a lot of concepts at least in the physical aspect in science fiction is based on detailed descriptions of future tech. Here we get to see that future tech on full display and while Johns isn't delving into manufacturers of ships, the classifications of weapons, buildings and other tech by mega corporations or hegemonic governments, the minutiae of detail like a lot of traditional sci-fi does, he still creates a "lived in" world. Reminded me a lot of Wall-E but with people instead of robots. If Wall-E was the most generic looking main character ever but he's got a really cool helmet, commands crows and his buddy has a pet warthog named Pumba. Put that in most other stories not set in space and I'd call it stupid but it works well here. Fabok is great as he tends to be. You can tell he put a lot of time into this and I hope that Johns and Fabok continue to go that route. These guys aren't great with tight schedules and if this is more of a sporadic release, as long as the quality keeps up I'm down to read this whenever it hits the shelf. more

Geoff Johns is the best comic book writer of all time, and this is why. Great art, action, character, and the story and cliffhanger? So great and beautiful. I am hooked on this series, an how Geoff Johns will create his own comic book universe. Can't wait.

Oh, it's a pity that somewhere humanity controls all of nature. The idea, of course, is not new, but it is worth reading and adding this series to the collection.

This was a good start and I appreciate them keeping the price low despite the high number of pages. The world-building is great. I felt sorry for Swine since we didn't really get to delve into him too much. The artwork is awesome as well.
