Overall this sixth installment in the "Justice/Doom War" event is quite something. If you like your stories huge in scope and centered firmly on good vs. evil you'll have a great time with this. After being a bit underwhelmed lately, this issue gets me back on board.  Snyder and Tynion up the stakes and finally show us what Perpetua is capable of doing.  Plus, we find out how she plans to keep her power and it all makes sense in such a devious way.  Throw in Francis Manapul art and there is a lot to like in this issue. All in all, Justice League #35 is one big celebration of doom, and the villains are preparing to do their victory lap across the multiverse. Now it will matter more than anything to see how these heroes find a way to turn things around. This isn't your average defeat. It is really such a shame it took me this long to get into Justice League, but I am glad I did and look forward to seeing how Snyder and Tynion plan to end their series before they both depart the series in December. This series also gives me a lot of hope for when Tynion takes over Batman from current writer Tom King and I can not wait to see what’s next from Snyder. Overall, I highly recommend picking this issue up and you can see for yourself what its like to see the bad guys win. The Justice/Doom War continues. This issue is a bit of a stop gap that allows the League to catch their breath, as The Legion of Doom destroys an entire universe. At the end of this book you will wonder how The Justice League will get out of this one. Read Full Review

While this issue still has the same recurring problems as past issues (too many characters that seem to just be around as window dressing and don't really contribute much or have a real distinct voice), I think that this was a necessary respite from the action that sets up the next step of this mega-arc. Prelude: Justice League has been amazing in the Doom War so far. But as the scales tip towards Doom (and screw up every other book's continuity), how does this issue fare? The Good: I do love the multiversal scale this has and how the wider DC Universe realises how screwed they are. It's all doom and gloom and it's appropriate for this issue. We're going to reach Hell Arisen and the DCU isn't going to be in a good shape. Francis Manapul's art was superb. The Bad: Man, I hate to say it since Snyder is usually good with this but continuity. Not only is Aquaman's continuity confusing again (plus every other leaguer due to their own solo series) but the Justice League Dark shot is messed up due to events with Swamp Thing (and Tyn ion is co-writing this!) and EARTH 3 IS NOT AN EARTH ANYMORE GUYS!!! IT WAS ERASED BY THE ANTI-MONITOR IN FOREVER EVIL AND THE REST OF THE CRIME SYNDICATE WERE KILLED EITHER IN FOREVER EVIL OR AT THE END OF DARKSEID WAR!!!!!!!! PLUS THAT ISN'T SUPERWOMAN OR JOHNNY QUICK! Perpetua isn't threatening. The Anti-Monitor has destroyed Earths, threatened and collapsed the multiverse. Yet one Earth takes considerable effort. Conclusion: The multiversal aspect and the designed gloomy and desperate vibe of this issue was done really well in my opinion. However, the continuity really lowered my score. Also Perpetua isn't threatening or interesting to me which is concerning. more

I don't know if it's because this whole arc has been pretty fun or because this issue made a good job of showing it, but I just now realized how big are the stakes in this story. I mean, everything, literally everything is on the line. That's crazy. One small thing though. Isn't the Crime Syndicate dead? Last time I checked, they were. So how the heck are they on Earth 3 in this issue, huh? Good thing it has no relevance to the story.

Dear Scott Snyder, Why did you have to include Earth 3 in the page with the reactions to Doom's victory? I thought that everyone was clear after Bendis fucked up with his little "Superboy-wormhole-Crime-Syndicate-in-the-past" bullshit, but you just had to mess it up again didn't you! So I guess Forever Evil didn't happen now? One of the best line-wide events in the decade has just been erased from continuity just for this little mention? I don't care if you destroyed the Gotham by Gaslight universe, orif you showed my boy Catman, or if you did a little Watchmen reference at the beginning of the book, I just want my MAZAHS! -SONOFBATMANN Besides that, the art was good but the plot was just set up.

I think it's nothing more than just an oversight. One small panel, that has really no relevance to the story. Still, it's worth pointing out. Shouldn't the editor or someone catch things like that? And yes, Forever Evil was awesome.

Wait, lol, they have to destroy each universe one by one? I was under the impression once Perpetua was super mega awesome powerful again, she'd just remake everything in an instant. This issue's first half was pretty good, honestly. The Gotham by Gaslight part was fun for me. The second half with Hawkgirl is a hard pass. I don't like Hawkgirl or her weird future child.

The pacing has felt really wonky. At the end of 34, it felt really rushed but now they've slowed it back down again. Not my favorite art but the Earth-19 bit was a highlight.
