Justice League #34 is perhaps the most rewarding installment ofJustice Doom War yet. Snyder and Tynion begin to pay off a year and a half of storytelling, and they do an admirable job, at that. Redondo and Porter hardly have complimentary styles, but they're both more-than-capable artists, and each brings his A-game to every page. It's not a war without the big bad on the field and fully empowered. Everything having to do with the mission in the past was engaging, the mission in the future was a thrill, but what went on in the present was unfortunately a letdown. I knew that Hawkgirl was going to screw everything up. Ever since Jonn had died, shes been a damn mess. She gave into rage, which in this story at least, is EVIL! The whole story is just totally up-ended now. We finally have reached the end of the first of three chapters and now its time for darkness to reign. Snyder and Tynion move the story into the next phase this week, but it didn't feel like it was totally ready for it.  Maybe it was me who wasn't ready, but I felt like a needed a bit more information from all the time periods and would have liked to hang just an issue or two more to get it.  The art was great throughout and the ending was certainly big, and even if I wasn't fully on board here, I will be back in two weeks expecting it all to get right back to form...not that that will help our heroes!  Seriously, they are in big trouble! Prelude: Justice League has been immensely strong throughout the Justice Doom War so as we reach part five, let's see how Tynion and Snyder go. The Good: Loved seeing all the heroes come together in this issue. Art was strong even with a change halfway. Original Anti-Monitor is back! The Bad: Kendra was really stupid this issue. Also how the teams got the totality pieces wasn't clear. Conclusion: While it isn't as great as the other issues, this issue was still very strong. However, I hope Snyder and Tynion can stick the landing because this issue makes me feel a bit uneasy on that front.

"Hail Perpetua" I miss Jimenez and Sanchez but this was fun. So many heroes, so many cool moments. Gotta love that Hypertime. Now, I wonder how the heroes will come out of this one.

I miss the old Lex. The solicits kind of spoiled the arc for me so I've kind of just been checking the boxes while reading these past few issues. I'm really happy the Anti-Monitor is back in his OG Crisis armor (Second Version). I also like how they mentioned that he had the ALE removed from him back in Darkseid War, proving that though Mobius was created by Perpetua (issue 22), he always reincarnates after death in the 6th Dimension, linking all of his separate versions (COIE, Sinestro Corps War, New 52). Death of Starman was very anti-climactic and it's pretty much Kendra's fault. Let's hope that the series picks up again.

I've loved this run but I feel like the creative team(s) have been spinning their wheels the last couple issues. They keep adding characters from all corners of Hypertime but they don't seem to be doing anything with them--in fact, it feels like the only exciting plot point lately has been seeing which new characters will appear (only to enjoy zero characterization and almost no lines). Nobody wanted to see the JSA come back more than I did but they've been back three or four issues now and the dialogue from them feels like it could come from any character. Why bring the JSA back to deliver generic lines? And why did the JL enlist every other hero in the DCU when they weren't going to use them? What a time for this otherwise great run to fa ll flat. more

I guess there are things here that I should care about. But I don't. I think everything is overwritten. It feels like Snydion IV (can't remember which wrote this one, and their styles are too similar to tell) is afraid to let the art do the work. Comics are a visual medium, and that should be taken advantage of. Instead, we get lots of long paragraphs, supposedly said during the heat of the moment, that explain what the characters are doing on the page. I think this is easily the weakest part of either writers' writing. And oh no, I guess all hope is lost for the 84th time this month. Who thinks it's all going to turn around when the heroes get hope again? It may not be next issue-- as there's a whole event about the Doom Pa- Brigade (I'm n ot calling them the Legion of Doom, as I don't respect them) and The Money That Prints fighting each other-- but it *will* happen eventually. more

Know what I think would be really powerful? If they had a hope spot where it seemed like finally the heroes were on the verge of winning, and then suddenly something happens to tip the balance back to the villains, who immediately gloat about it. What a really cool thing that would be. Too bad they’ve never thought to try it in this comic. Really such a shame.
