    AIPT - Diane Darcy

Absolute Wonder Woman finally confronts Veronica Cale, but far from being a fistfight, Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman gloriously deliver a fight of conflicting priorities, resulting in strong character work for both women. Read Full Review

Absolute Wonder Woman #23 sets off a new arc in this run and it packs a powerful punch. This issue is setting the tone for the arrival of the gods to Gateway City. The coloring, lettering, and fine detailing with the art shows how powerful Diana can be when the gloves are off. Kelly is making the reader see all sides of the argument and how nothing is truly as cut and dry as it appears. Things are heating up and this is just the beginning! Read Full Review

A solid start to what I suspect will be a truly interesting story arc, in which the stakes escalate even further than they have thus far. That is saying something, given that we’ve already seen some pretty traumatic events involving this version of Wonder Woman. Read Full Review

Diana’s return to the Absolute Universe is filled with rage and revenge in this incredible issue. Thompson unleashes the fire inside with the writing. Sherman returns with a vengeance with Bellaire’s coloring lighting up the pages. AWW keeps the high level of storytelling running at a flawless level every time out. Read Full Review

    Comic Crusaders - Al Mega

Absolute Wonder Woman #23 comes out swinging with emotional meat on the bone, fearless layouts, gorgeous color work, crisp lettering, and a Diana who feels larger than life without ever becoming some untouchable marble statue. Thompson remembers there is a woman underneath all that armor, while Sherman draws her like the gods themselves might want to reconsider pulling up. WEPA! Diana is angry, the divine nonsense is getting louder, and if this is only the opening round of “Heretic,” Gateway City better check the fine print on that insurance policy because god-level property damage probably ain’t covered. Wonder Woman was bad ass here.

Cale's motivations now make more sense.

Best issue of this series in a while.

Spectacular!!! Finally an issue that reminds me how good this title is. I loved the visuals of the gods, all the development of Diana and even Cale. I really want to read the next issue.

Always a highlight of my pulllist. Sherman is incredible, I love his characters designs, specially the gods.. Diana is so menacing and impotent, it is a refreshing take on the character. Highly recommend.

The first review here, by Diane Darcy, gets the comic and Veronica Vale almost completely wrong. Vale original motivation has nothing to do with saving her daughter - her daughter's dilemma is the result of her earlier actions against Zatanna. Vale is already a monster who is abusing her power before her daughter is caught up in things. Also, Vale says that she is motivated by the desire to protect humanity and Diana concedes that Vale may have some reason to fear even her - but Diana also understands that Vale's actions are driven by her desire to maintain her own position. If Vale is driven by fear it is at least as much fear to her own status and power as anything else.

The issue itself is excellent and continues the solid run more

This series unfortunately started to feel like it was falling off, but this story immediately picks up on every single front; the art feels more fiery than ever, the writing continues to engage with its character work, but on top of it, I feel like we've started to push Wonder Woman into facing her toughest foes.

I really like this new story so far. it lays down some stakes early and they are big. Cale has real motivations for her actions and that adds some depth that I loved. the last arc was slow but this one starts off with a bang. It's nice to have Hayden back on art duties as Dillon Snook made really ugly Diana with a huge nose and long face. I look forward to whatever happens next. This absolute WW is one of the best titles in the Absolute line.
