ne World Under Doom #3 takes the Avengers greatest weakness and shines a massive spotlight on it. And the person who shines that spotlight is none other than Doctor Doom himself. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom #3 delivers solid event staples big fights, surprise alliances, and ominous stakes with sharp character writing and strong visuals. While the action choreography occasionally underwhelms and the story drags out a realization readers already reached, it's still a compelling chapter in a high-stakes Marvel epic. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom managed to balance political commentary and story demands for the first two issues, but it falls down hard here. From a visual standpoint, the issue is entertaining. But its narrative is unsuccessful. The issue is predictable almost from start to finish, a carbon copy of what came before in some respects. Given the twist in the final pages, its possible this is just an uneven transition issue. But in any event, One World Under Doom #3 fails to live up to what came before it. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom #3 makes Doom look powerful by making everyone else look dumb, ending on a cliffhanger that ALSO makes Doom look dumb. Ryan North's script tones down the political rhetoric and answers a key question from the first issue, and R.B. Silva's artwork is good to great. That said, the plot is getting repetitive, and Doom's success relies on everyone else's incompetence in an event that's shaping up to be Dumb AND Boring. Read Full Review
One World Under Doom Issue 3 wastes an amazing idea. Having the heroes and the villains team up to try and defeat Doom is a phenomenal proposal and well worth exploring. But the execution falls well short of expectation. Read Full Review
Plot
Captain Marvel presents a strategy to uncover Doom's plan. It consists of a joint attack between the Avengers, M.O.D.O.K., Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, and Arcade to distract Doctor Doom and thus be able to enter the minds of the world leaders using the combined powers of Baron Mordo, Madelyne Pryor, and Scarlet Witch, thus revealing what kind of mind control they have.
The Avengers and the Masters of Evil launch their attack, and Doctor Doom confronts them. Scarlet Witch discovers that the world leaders are not mind-controlled; they received what they wanted; Doom offered them whatever they desired: money, sex, drugs, impunity, etc. In other words, Doctor Doom corrupted them without any tricks.
With his magical more
I realllllly want to like this, because I think it’s a great concept and has had some excellent moments. Unfortunately all of the heroes have come down with a major case of the stupids so there can be big fights, and it’s dragging everything else down. North’s FF tie ins have been less bombastic and far more interesting, but I guess these big events have to feature huge team up fights.
Kind of boring.
Dooms keeping me afloat
And the ending spiked my intrigue.
pointless
I just can't anymore with this book. The Avengers are stupid and condescending AF. The art is technically perfect but soulless. Is it okay if I'm rooting for Doom? I want him to unalive them all, even Storm. This event feels meaningless.
Doc Doom doesn't need to be smart when North writes...
OWUD #1 - let's make the Avengers dumb as a rock
OWUD #2 - let's make the FF dumb as a rock
OWUD #3 - let's make the Avengers dumb as a rock (again)
Also dumb, is Dino Doom. I hated it when it was introduced and it makes even less sense now (knowing any iteration of Doom will eventually claim to be the ultimate Doom).
"You big nerd."? Since when does Wanda talk like that? Junk like that just pulls one out of the story.
I get the point that the Avengers recruited villians that are schemers - but they didn't scheme. Every move was an Avengers call. And what's the point of this Arcade - all he did was shoot a gun that anyone could have do more
