the last 3 issues have been consistently stale. it's a shame that they've really gone no where with this story. everything is very basic: characters, plot, dialogue, art. none of it is keeping my attention.

I had read that this was a standout series from the end of New 52 and the whole relaunch in general. Knowing that this was the prelude to the Superman of Rebirth I read it hoping it was as good as the Rebirth and #1 issues. Sadly, this series is very basic and could have been told in maybe 2 or 3 issues. Lots of filler and very few character moments. I'm not at all familiar with Jurgen's work but he does not have the knack to write a "family" story or even the ability to give characters any depth. If this series was intended to attract a younger audience then so be it, but I think DC and the writer missed on a chance to humanize Superman and also introduce his son in a great and unique way.
