Dark Knight News - Kevin Gunn
Nov 09, 2016Once again, Tynion and Barrows have not disappointed. Another top notice effort of suspenseful storytelling. Detective Comics has grown to be one of my favorite Batman books. And this arc peels off layer after layer unveiling new twists and turns to uncover the mysterious Victim Syndicate. I hope Tyion doesn't put Stephanie through too much more. Weird Science - Jim Werner
Nov 09, 2016Detective Comics is back on top with this issue and after the Monster Men debacle, I am so glad. The Victim Syndicate continues the idea that Batman's methods need to change and after Tim Drake's death, there isn't really an argument there. Nov 10, 2016This weeks issue of Detective Comics has plenty of action, interesting concepts, and fantastic art. But it also comes along with it's fair share of somewhat problematic moments. Specifically, I felt that the fight scene was clunkily arranged and somewhat unbelievable. Along with that, I had a hard time integrating the Victim Syndicate's background stories to coincide with their current objection to Batman. Even though the bigger picture presented in this issue is a little disjointed, many of the individual parts are quite excellent. Comic Book Bin - Avi Weinryb
Nov 12, 2016This issue is well illustrated, with engaging action and strong, consistent likenesses of the characters, all of whom have a wide range of emotion. There are some well-composed depictions of movement, such as when Luke Fox jumps out of a building, transforming into Batwing before he hits the ground. The First Victim villain is creepily presented, with a textured look others dont have. Its almost as if everyone was digitally inked and she or he (we dont yet know) is a watercolor. Its a creative move, however it was actually achieved. Read Full Review

Another top notch issue from James Tynion IV. The art is killer and the story is something new to Batman. These new villains have an element of mystery especially the leader. I really like this concept and I think they are going to present some new challenges for Batman and his new army.

[ART: 9.5 | STORY: 9 | WRITING: 9.1 | TOTAL: 9.2 (~9)] Another solid issue for my personal favourite Rebirth title thus far. The Victim Syndicate have been introduced as strong villains with good motivation. It's a fairly dense issue (took me a while to read, but I'm not complaining) with lots of characters to keep up with. I throughly enjoyed Batwing's inclusion, dually because of the way he's drawn and written. This is looking like another fantastic arc.

The Victim Syndicate is an interesting concept that I feel will have a huge twist as part of it. I have really enjoyed Tynion's interpretation of the BatFamily and will continue to read as long as his is one it.

I found this issue a bit messy, mainly because there were too many characters. While reading it, I had this feeling sometimes that I had skipped a page. Still, the Victim Syndicate members are really intriguing and I'm looking forward to discover their complete plan.

Tim Drake's presence is sorely missed in this series. now that Tim is out of the picture though i really thought there'd be more focus on Clayface and Casandra Cain? . . . . . . Batwing is an ok addition to the line-up. he does remind me a bit of Iron-Man/Tony Stark for some reason? . . . . . . the new villains are cool looking, but they feel a bit over-powered for characters that we've never heard of before. Mr. Noxious can poison people to death with zero contact, the mute can stop Batman from talking in mid-sentence. i can see giving your characters a challenge, but let's at least try to suspend disbelief. . . . . . this issue had some decent moments, but i found it very difficult to keep up with the more

Detective Comics should be about Batman the world's greatest detective more than about a superteam. DC should switch this with the Batman titles ASAP. But as for a blossoming superteam adventure, this was pretty good all round.
