Doctor Stasis finally makes his first move against mutantkind, and its the assassination of the face of the X-Men, Cyclops. Combine that with Pepe Larrazs return makes this book look just absolutely gorgeous. The scents from the last issue and this issue almost feels like their releases should have been switched, but maybe theres a reason Duggans going about the introduction to Captain Krakoa non linearly, and I just havent figured it out yet. Yet, the direction of X-MEN moving forward and the stories that appear on the horizon truly do fascinate me. And we know its only a matter of time before everyone knows about mutant resurrection. The question now is when. Maybe thats the next big event? Either way, I think Duggan is humming now and I haven't genuinely felt this enthusiastic for this X-MEN book in quite some time. When combining all the plot developments and phenomenal artwork X-Men #7 is easily the best issue of this series to date. Duggan and Larraz really nailed everything they were looking to do with the story. They gave weight to Cyclops latest death and why he is now Captain Krakoa while showcasing him at his best as the leader of the X-Men. That along with developments around Orchis and other sub-plots make this a can't miss X-Men issue. Read Full Review

While the issue feels a little misplaced for the order of the series, it does its job of paying homage to Cyclops and making new questions about the enemy orchestrating everything. Read Full Review

X-Men #7 is a comic with fantastic art. The writing doesn't match the art at all, but Duggans writing is merely bad in this issue, not as abysmal as it has been. At least he choreographed a nice action scene. Larraz and Gracia are the MVPs because of course they are. The art elevates the so-so writing. Read Full Review

This was the best issue of Duggan's X-Men run yet. As we did with Issue 6, we're delving a little more into the ongoing storyline here and it's pretty interesting. Plus, we have some good character moments for Scott. This is all capped off by Larraz's stellar art. Captain Krakoa's design is pretty cool, also.

The secret origin of Captain Krakoa! Okay, this issue is pretty great. Dr. Stasis is proving to be a worthy addition to the X-Men’s myriad villains. This also makes last issue a bit better in hindsight.

Ok now we are moving somewhere worth following. I hope Duggan doesn't derail his story and the X-Office follows what I think they are going for. Larraz and Gracia are FANTASTIC AS ALWAYS!!

I was completely lost with this "asymmetric" narration, but this issue explained the plot holes X-Men #6 left hanging. And I can never say no to a mystery, so I'll be reading this to know who the hell this Dr. Stasis is.

The death of Cyclops unfolds with a few little surprises, but no big ones. As usual, the X-Men make big tactical wins (thanks in large part to consistently awesome art) but are barely aware that the slow progression of the plot is hurting them on a strategic scale. Snotty as I sound, I found this issue pretty dang enjoyable. I might wish for a stronger connection between the big picture and the little picture, but this time around they're both compelling.

Synch's big, potential omega mutant moment was awesome. I love that Duggan is continuing on with some of the Children of the Vault developments from Hickman's run. The idea that Jean's powers are imprinting on him due to close quarters living is brilliant and a really nice, organic addition to the character. As for the big reveal this issue, I think Duggan has given us a lot of the puzzle pieces and now it's up to us to start assembling them. Stasis is clearly looking for something within the mutants in order to perfect his chimera and while his crude "experiment" on Scott gets most of the attention, I think it's the information page to watch out for. Forge's new invention allows mutant telepaths to communicate basically anywhere which means Stasis' plans could be short-lived. Larraz's art is also a treat, as per usual. He's just fantastic at those bad ass action moments. more

A slight bounceback from several consecutive dragging issues. Could do with not seeing in Emma Frost in every single weekly comic, she's too omnipresent.
