The story may be the ride, but the artwork is what sells it as the experience. The creators behind this issue have done a phenomenal job of leveling up each story with a new twist and elevating the stakes for the protagonist. But most of all - the issue starts with a very, very exciting surprise Spider-hero character that I think any fan of Spider-Man will absolutely drop their jaw when they read it. And fun fact - I kinda dropped an Easter Egg in this article about this. Hope you enjoy! Read Full Review

Bagley delivers beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. There are some great visual moments in the issue and I love the different look of the world. Read Full Review

If you enjoyed Spider-Verse and its sequels, get on board and read Spider-Man #2. It captures the fun of a vast multiverse while setting up a showdown that injects some oddballs into Peter Parker's team against nearly every beloved version of Spider-Man ever made. Spider-Man continues to redefine the Spider-Verse in new and exciting ways. Read Full Review

This is likely the calm before the sheer chaos that is on the way if that ending is anything to go by, but I've really enjoyed this adventure so far, and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez

Spider-Man #2 is an acceptable entry in the series that relies almost entirely on exposition, explanations, and setup to get readers up to speed and characters in place. There's minimal action, and the pacing is almost too high, but the narrative stays clear throughout. Read Full Review

A rough story combined with great art doesn't quite make it's a must-read, but it's pretty worthwhile for any Spider-fan to see Bagley's work return to form. Read Full Review

Overall, I enjoyed this and would recommend but there are a few things that bothered me. The good - Bagley always draws well. Not my favourite but always good and not much to complain about. I also like that Shathra is the villain this time around. She hasn't been used much and is something different and very much a threat. So, for the overall story, good big bad villain. I also enjoyed the pacing of the issue. There was a lot of information given, I never felt like it was poorly delivered, and we ended up in a different pace than where we started. I quite enjoyed that we finally had an explanation for why Morlun and his family had such a spider fetish. Prior to this, I always thought they just liked the taste of spiders best, since the more

It's fine. Would be so much better without the "chosen one" plot. Bagley does a lot of the saving with his wonderful art.

Maybe the author is being lazy or I'm too old and savvy, but it's clear to me that a lot of this issue's stupid is intentional bait-and-switch stupid that'll be reversed later on. For example, I rarely make predictions, but I'd put money on Araña being the Chosen One, not Spidey. That's how all the event build-up went. Gosh, it's still A LOT of stupid, though! Not very well-paced stupid, either. And even the art can't rescue it. It's far from bad, but also far from the artist's best. (Finally, though I loved Spider-Princess in her solo introduction, WOW is she not suitable for team-ups.)
