Dec 15, 2021Inferno #3 is straight-up amazing. Hickman does a remarkable job, and the art is great, even if Caselli's pages aren't as good as the others. That's pretty much the only complaint; the art isn't completely spectacular for a few pages, just mostly spectacular. Inferno is next level. Read Full Review

Dec 08, 2021INFERNO #3 lays out a massive helping of information that should have been gradually released since HOXPOX began. But alas, it's at least finally given to fans. The biggest problem is how dense, heavy, and quick it's released throughout the issue. Sure, you'll be able to reasonably understand the premise, however, it really weighed down the action and suspense that could have been in this penultimate issue. Read Full Review

Dec 08, 2021Inferno #3 is an interesting issue ramping up the action and bringing together a lot of concepts and ideas that have been seeded along the way. I have no idea how this miniseries will wrap up so much and where it'll leave things when all is said and done. But, it's one that has me sucked in waiting to see where it's going to take us from here. Read Full Review

Dec 11, 2021Inferno #3 continued the wild ride that has been Jonathan Hickman's run on the X-Men franchise. The decisions made by Charles Xavier, Magneto, Emma Frost, Mystique, Destiny, and Moira MacTaggert all led to severe consequences. And when you add in the Days of Future Past-like revelation made in this issue the interest going into the final issue of Inferno could not be higher. I cannot wait to see how Hickman and company wrap up this massive X-Men event. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2021Inferno #3 seems to just be there to push our characters to whatever Inferno #4 is going to be about. This isn't a bad thing, but as a stand-alone issue I don't think this comic works very well. I would recommend readers to wait for the trade paperback if they are not currently following this series. Status: currently depressed that Hickman X-Men is almost over. This is by far the best treatment the X-Men have gotten in years. The Hickman era from HoX/PoX to X of Swords to this has been just amazing story telling on his part. It's such a shame it is coming to an end soon

This comic had me invested on every panel. I can't wait to see how Hickman wraps this up. His track record is solid though. From secret warriors to fantastic four to the Avengers, all had big stories that ended great. I've heard (though may be untrue, but whatever) that Hickman initially intended a longer run here but had to wrap up early. Same thing happened on secret warriors. That had a good ending despite still having a sense of being abrupt. I suspect the final issue of inferno may feel like that but I trust Hickman. This issue keeps up the momentum and is the type of comic that keeps me reading comics. Full 10 for awesomeness!

This was pretty good, I really hope Hickman will end it with a bang, I'm really sorry Marvel cut his plans and he had to improvise here.

UxasIs - Dec 11, 2021Yeah, I thought his run got way too messy and that dance-off event certainly didn't help, but it all really came together here imo

Can't believe that the end of this series is almost here. Hickman's time on the X-Men has been nothing short of revolutionary and this issue is a perfect exhibit of why. He masterfully juggles multiple converging plots as Moira's best laid plans begin to quickly unravel. Her need for every mutant to stick to her well-lived script has ultimately been her undoing. With so many mutants pulling in opposite directions, Moira has been unable to stay one step ahead. Mystique, Emma Frost, Magneto, Charles, and even Cypher are all doing what they believe is best to protect their new nation. The Karima plot this issue was enlightening and provided a great twist not only on Hickman's HoXPoX, but on Days of Future Past as well. I'm incredibly ex cited to see how Hickman wraps this all up. The fuse has now been lit and all that's left is to watch the fireworks. more

daspidaboy - Dec 9, 2021Can you please explain more on how Hickman's X-Men was revolutionary? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Loafy Trophy - Dec 9, 2021Certainly. I feel like he's revolutionized the X-Men franchise for a few reasons: 1. Hickman has brought an absolute plethora of new ideas. I think the biggest one, ALL mutants working together regardless of their history, is a seismic shift in status quo. He's basically broken down the barrier between hero and villain. And while not every likes how morally ambiguous some of the heroes have acted (particularly Beast and Xavier), I think it's opened up a whole new landscape of stories to tell.
Loafy Trophy - Dec 9, 2021The other big ideas (Moira's many lives, the resurrection protocols, the way Krakoa operates regarding medicine, homes and travel) are all equally revolutionary to me. Mutants have built societies before but with none of the infrastructure or culture that Hickman has seeded. 2. I think you have to look at the X-line and how fractured it was before Hickman's arrival. We basically had 10 years of stories reacting to the death of Xavier.
Loafy Trophy - Dec 9, 2021Factions were formed and characters changed sides, but everything pretty much stayed the same. For the most part the X-Men used Cerebro to locate mutants and then attempted to train those younger mutants in a school, while dealing with various threats along the way. Hickman threw all that out the window in favor of a large scale society story. 3. Finally, it feels like the first time that I can remember the mutants having the upper hand.
Loafy Trophy - Dec 9, 2021They have world-changing medicines, they can't be killed, and they seemingly know the future and can smother their enemies plans in the cradle. I think Inferno #3 has made that shift even more pronounced, since we now know (thanks to Karima) that the mutants always win.

I have loved Hickman's run on X-Men from the start. I'll also be the first to admit that pretty much all of the event comic tie-ins have been somewhat lackluster. I think "Inferno" is breaking that track record, but I find it so frustrating how easily Mystique and Destiny are manipulating the Krakoan age. Great writing, great art, frustrating character outcomes.

Okay, I wasn't always the biggest fan of Hickman's X-men as i thought the storytelling and exposition were way too messy and I thought the first two issues of this were quite flawed as well But fuck, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love this issue. It all really comes together here Perfect storytelling, perfect use of characters, perfect development, perfect art, I just hope the other issues have me as on edge as this one did

Once again, a fantastic issue. It's cool to see Silva and Hickman working together here after Powers of X, and Silva makes everything look really good. As for the story, of course it was good. I was little more interested in the Orchis stuff here, but this issue was stronger when focused on the mutants, in my opinion. The way Cypher's section ended was especially awesome. All things considered, though, every issue of this book has been full of awesome stuff. Hopefully the next issue sticks the landing.

Great issue!! It is very hard to imagine that last year's X-men book was filler material when it could have been these stories fleshed out properly before the bigger bang twists. Alas, I'll enjoy this conclusion arc and hope we can get another event a few years from now. The art was great! I just wish we had one artist throughout it but still all 3 are awesome just not complementary styles.

Inferno #3 is the penultimate issue in Jonathan Hickman’s run on X-Men. The quality of the Hickman era has been hit and miss from the moment the line expanded beyond House and Powers of X but when Hickman is on he’s on fire and that’s what we get in this issue. Inferno #3 goes a long way in redeeming this series. I’ve gave the first two installments a middling review this issue reflects a night and day difference in tone and focus. Thankfully, we’re not spending half the issue in a quiet council meeting. The Quiet Council space has been replaced by several legit bombshells as the comic progresses. We learn that Cypher’s relation to Krakoa is much deeper than initially suspected. Omega Sentinel gets a huge reveal tying to the greater X-Men lore. Moira gets taken off the board in a particularly violent way. It also appears that Xavier and Magneto won’t survive this series. The linework from the creative team is consistent with the rest of the series and if you’ve liked it so far you’re getting more of it here. This is one of the best looking X-books I’ve seen in a while and the the impending sense of dread carries throughout the book and hits a crescendo as the book climaxes with a pretty big cliffhanger. I really hate that Hickman’s run is over. Its clear that he had a plan going in that got screwed up by Marvel editorial. It also sucks that a lot of these concepts weren’t fleshed out in an ongoing. I read a lot of Dawn of X before getting frustrated and dropping all of the X-titles. If these were the concepts pushing the line forward I would have continued reading. At this time I’m jaded and once Inferno is over I doubt I come back to the line unless Hickman comes back to finish what he started. In Short: With Inferno #3 Hickman finally delivers the goods. more

The words deliver a marvelous combination of shocking revelations and intriguing plot developments. And speaking of marvelous combinations, this issue is the rare example of an artist carousel being a good thing. Each artist is in top-shelf form, and the scenes are divided up wisely so that their different styles serve to create distinct moods. (It also helps that character overlap is minimal and character design is highly consistent.) I hold my rating below perfect because there's a lot of artifice in the dialogue. Conversations get interrupted or the lines get cryptic, all obviously done to preserve a few last mysteries. This isn't realistic speech, but I'll happily give a pass to characters caught up in such an epic story.

I know Hickman needed to show how much of a threat Nimrod is but Magneto definitely got nerfed here. And I still kinda hate Moira being a Mutant. Aside from that, though, this was still a great comic with plenty of action and Krakoan political intrigue.

What makes this title so exciting to read each month is that I can never predict where Hickman is going with this. So much is packed within every issue of this X-line event and I discovered a newfound appreciation for Cypher. The only downside is though Silva, Caseli and Schiti are all very talented, the swapping of artists throughout this issue can affect the pacing of the story from time to time. Regardless, this is a must read for Hickman fans.

My man Hickman is back! His events are fantastic (while his series are meh, at best). "Inferno" is blowing my mind, everything is perfect: writing, colours, art... Best event since House of X! And this makes me wonder how this is the same man who wrote that garbage of X of Swords...

I found some parts to be a little confusing but, for the most part this book was solid. It threw a few twists and by the end of the book I feel like I need the next one asap.
