But Why Tho? - William Tucker
Feb 10, 2021Daredevil #27 is an enthralling, action-packed second part to the tie-in. Zdarsky has successfully managed to combine the plot of his run with the event to the benefit of both. It has allowed for some important character development with some plot threads that are sure to be continued. There is a strong emotional core to the issue and the artists express themselves with new and fun designs. Read Full Review

Feb 10, 2021Even with so much chaos and unexpected symbiote storytelling, Daredevil remains one of the most compelling character studies in comics today, superhero or otherwise. Read Full Review

Feb 11, 2021Daredevil #27 is something of a mixed bag. It has the unfortunate job of juggling someone else's story with it's own, and all things considered, it does a pretty good job. It would be very easy for this to be awful, and it wasn't awful; it was solid. Plus, the tremendous artwork by Checchetto and Hawthorne did wonders for this alright story. I liked reading it, but I'm relieved that the next issue appears to be back to normal. Read Full Review

Tremendous as usual. I loved everything about this issue

As usual, Zdarsky kills it with another issue of DD. King in Black didn't slow this series at all and that just shows how good of a writer Zdarsky is. It also doesn't hurt that the art is still wonderful.

Really good issue, but slightly held down by the tie-in nature of it.

I hate the whole Knull thing but I loved this issue. Zdarsky just knows exactly what buttons to pushh. Chechetto and Hawthorne again are perfect in this combination between the different scenes! Also those inks by Di Benedetto over Hawthorne pencils are sick and made the whole Venomized DD and Matt art POP!!

Trade readers might be a little confused by the sudden alien invasion, but other then that, these last two issues have been really good. Amazing art from Checchetto as usual and some good character moments from Matt, Elektra and Fisk. I think most will agree though that these last two issues are a much better edition to the King in Black series then the actual Daredevil run.

Matt overcomes Knull possession and Elektra-Devil fakes her way out of Typhoid Mary's attack, stumbling into a sidekick situation at the same time. Good plotting, good art, good prose, but this time the sum of the parts falls just shy of greatness. Perhaps this issue is hampered by the limitations of an event tie-in?

“I’m… I’m here to make amends… To do what’s right… so my soul knows freedom.†A classic Daredevil story where Matt wins due to his incredible will. Elektra’s role in this was great as she’s being put to the test and this time, as Daredevil, she has responsibilities she can’t run away from. And the way she dealt with Mary was simple yet brilliant. Speaks volumes when even a tie-in can’t slow down a run. GJ Zdarsky. “You don’t have to always be like Matt to be Daredevil… but sometimes… it couldn’t hurt to try.â€

I really like that even though Matts in jail which has been done before. It really makes it feel fresh that hes in while elektra is out being DD. Good stuff even with the tie in.

Daredevil Volume: 6, Issue: 27 “The Black Kitchen, Part: 2†Publisher: Marvel @marvel Writer: Chip Zdarsky @zdarsky Artist: Marco Checchetto @mchecc18 , Mike Hawthorne @mikehawthorneart & Adriano Di Benedetto @adriano.dibenedetto Colors: Marcio Menyz @mmenyz Letters: Clayton Cowles Cover: Marco Checchetto & Matthew Wilson @colornmatt Despite being assimilated into his hive mind and playing host to a symbiote, Daredevil finds the strength to resist Knull’s influence. Strapping himself into an electric chair and having a fellow inmate hit the switch, Matt successfully frees himself from Knull’s symbiotic grasp. Elsewhere, Wilson Fisk, concerned over Typhoid Mary’s well being, is no longer content sitting on the sideline s as his city crumbles around him. Meanwhile, Elektra, too concentrated on what Matt would do in her situation, finds herself on a losing end of a battle with a symbiotic Mary. Utilizing her own training, Elektra plays possum to Mary, giving herself the needed opportunity to regroup. Matt strapped himself into an electric chair. Holy freaking crap that was awesome. Daredevil has by far been the best King in Black tie-in. As usual, the writing and artwork on this book is the best you’re going to find. Elektra’s Daredevil design is amazing. I love everything about the series. But my favorite part was Fisk showing concern and threatening his staff for standing in his way. While King in Black has been a distraction, our creative team have handled it with grace, and now we can get back to our regular scheduled program.

The Elektra part was a bit wasn't very well written. Matt's part was great despite the terrible Knullified design and a bit too much focus on religion. The idea of putting himself on an electric chair was amazing, but i was a bit disappointed that we didn't get a wide panel of him in the chair taking the shock.

Venomized Daredevil is such a tediously 90's concept that even Zdarsky can't make it sing, though he tries valiantly. Glad this is the end of that and we can get back to the good stuff.

I want Elektra to show more leg. Two of Matt's exes go at it and all I get as a reader is E playing possum on some Hand shit? I demand a rematch ! Matt riding the lightning was dope, but that suit was such a tease! I could have done without all the religious talk though, Matt "The Choir Boy" Murdock could save that for the confession booth. - Audiomack.com/cvrthebard

Matt Murdock is a man of God. It's an interesting part of his character. But the way Zdarsky writes Matt's faith is becoming kinda annoying. He's not usually so in-your-face about his faith. Now it's like he's on a mission from God like one of the Blues Brothers. Anyway, that's starting to be a pet peeve of mine with Zdarsky's Matt. Otherwise, this issue is a big fat pile of meh. I really don't know what to think of Daredevil anymore. At least the King in Black nonsense is mostly over with (even if Mary is still infected).
