Avengers #23 might put the spotlight on the Black Cat, but it still has some good fights and some major troubles ahead for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I look forward to how MacKay and Karami wrap up this heist story and to see if MacKay will have Felicia Hardy swing by the pages of his X-Men run. Read Full Review

Avengers #23 continues the heist story, this time from the Black Cats perspective. With Black Cat as the main POV character, the heist reads better and has more energy to it than it did with the Avengers. The art team do a great job illustrating Black Cat and Kangs mad dash to escape the casino, and action ensues throughout the comic. And right when it feels like the jig is up, the thieves pull the rug right from under the Avengers and gear things up for the next issue. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

Its too bad MacKay couldnt have kept rolling with the Black Cat in her own title. This storyline with her against the Avengers feels like a relatively weak echo back to something that had a bit more of a fresh feel about it that was substantially more interstig on a few different levels. That being said, it IS cool to mix Kang and Felicia into the same side of the stage. Read Full Review

Avengers #23 shifts gears to the perspective of iconic anti-heroine Black Cat, whose thieving antics bring a whole new kind of showmanship and energy to this adventure. Read Full Review

Plot Black Cat and Kang escape from the Avengers, they hired Gatecrasher and his team of beings with extravagant powers, such as Technet, Ferro, Thug and Scatterbrain, all of them serve as a distraction so that Kang and Felicia have more time. Kang complains to the Avengers for not being able to stop the TRIBULATION EVENTS, so he will have to stop them himself, that's why he broke his alliance with these heroes. Kang offered Felicia the opportunity to spoil a robbery for his father in the past so that she would help him, in the same way Captain Marvel has in her hands the container with the "lost moment" but it is empty, at that moment Kang's entire army arrives. Exciting chapter where Jed Mackay has a key understanding of Black C more

This story is just going nowhere. It's got good art, but no story. Every other page is a flashback. There are literally three splash panels of the flying Avengers looking down at Kang and Black Cat with their arms crossed. Three times in the same issue. So repetitive. Then at the end, I felt that McKay said to himself, "I need something BIGGER!" If Kang has an entire armada, why does he need to steal anything? Why didn't he just demand the codex over? Just plain stupid. My Comic Review Channel - https://youtu.be/b2792D-FD0E

Teaming up Kang, Black Cat and the Technet sounds like one of those weird ideas that would have made a great issue of Excalibur back in the day, but in the hands of Jed MacKay it ends up being just as dry and boring as... well, any issue of this Avengers series I have read so far. I don't know what it is, but this series is just not working.

Eh, I took a two month hiatus on reading new comics and coming back I have to say I did not miss much. The last good issue for this series was #20 when Black Panther was in that pocket dimension helping some resistance group, I loved that concept. But it really has been just going through the motion since that ish. This should be great, Kang hiring Black Cat to help steal (well honestly I forgot what it was called), Black Cat getting her father in on it. But it sucks. I don't know, the writing, the pacing, the dynamics between each member. Just sucks... Gonna go back to staying away from this. Will probably check it out when Black Panther comes back.
