The women were written very well (with the exception of May in my opinion). Who would have thought that when you get women to write women, things feel natural?! I would like to see what Ireland does away from 8 Deaths. I liked the direction she took with some ideas but they were hampered too much by this overall narrative.

Dec 16, 2024Overall, this is a solid issue that delivers a powerful punch, leaving you wondering if Spidey can recover. With three lives already spent, he's down to just five. How will Spidey overcome this formidable third Scion? I guess we'll have to wait and see in the next installment. Read Full Review

Dec 19, 2024Cyrios forces Peter to revisit Yesterday and laments his inability to Let It Be while ignoring that mindfulness and judgmentalism don't Come Together. As Peter struggles to prevent past failures from ruining his present, more scions of Cyttorak study him in Amazing Spider-Man #63. One seeks power, the other freedom, and both have likely watched Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure. Read Full Review

Dec 11, 2024Justina Ireland pens a fantastic issue in place of Joe Kelly, and it's one that sets up a lot of interesting possibilities going forward. The issue is a lot of fun to read, and is also an emotional one that will pull at your heartstrings a little bit. Between the writing, the artwork & the color it makes for an incredible issue. And it's an issue that I would definitely recommend reading sooner rather than later, because you are NOT going to want to miss the next issue. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2024With Justina Ireland at the helm, it truly seems like the future is bright for Peter Parker once more. This issue was filled with a vindicating amount of character maturity, depth, and struggle that never once felt forced, elevating the main story of 8 Deaths to a place where the stakes have grown more troubling for Peter on a personal level. With even better art in tow, this is this issue that proves the worth of this story and cements it as a genuine pace-changer for the title. Read Full Review

Dec 17, 2024After a looong period of Spidey being a ping-pong ball, it's nice to see a clever, thoughtful, and proactive hero in action. Melnikov's art and the new costume are really attactive as well. Read Full Review

Dec 11, 2024Amazing Spider-Man #63 pits Spider-Man against the third scion of Cyttorak for a time-hopping battle designed to crush Spidey's spirit. Justine Ireland joins the title to deliver an issue with a solid plot at a high level and strong personal moments between Peter and his circle of friends and family. Unfortunately, the main event gets shortchanged with a poor setup, poor resolution, and too little page space in favor of slice-of-life drama. Read Full Review
