It was, for me. And every now and then I check the reviews for the book to see if got better and the reviews from usual fans here who love GL are showing that it hasn't changed at all. I tried the FS issues and the first 4 from the main book and I decided I just don't want to read it anymore, it was very messy and very bad. Add to that the fact that the writer has a visceral hate for Hal Jordan, he has stated repeatedly how much he despises the character, and it got unbearable for me.

Feb 09, 2022What makes this tie-in to Amazing Spider-Man's Beyond era so entertaining is it takes a supporting character in Hobie Brown, aka the former Prowler and new Hornet, and finds a way to naturally progress his character arc. Read Full Review

Feb 07, 2022Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY does well to draw you into Hornet's perspective while making the Slingers a target for the Beyond Corporation. As we near the end of this era it's plain to see tie-in stories like this are building towards a big finish. More importantly, Thorne will make you want more Hornet comics and ties the narrative into real-world issues worthy of hero intervention. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings
Feb 07, 2022Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY once again turns the spotlight on a member of Spider-Man's supporting cast, while also revisiting a storyline from his past. I only hope sales on this book are strong enough to warrant a Slingers miniseries, as I feel the creative crew could really work wonders with the concept. Read Full Review

Feb 12, 2022My bias is going to really show with this review, but this was a super fun issue focusing on some very underused by awesome characters. Nice balance of character and action. Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler
Feb 09, 2022Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY is a fun book if you're a fan of Hobie Brown, formerly The Prowler now The Hornet. However, if you want a story that directly ties into the main series, than you might have to look elsewhere. The dialogue and pacing are good, the artwork is solid and energetic at times, and the story is a fun ride for fans of Hobie Brown. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Matt Meyer
Feb 07, 2022Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY is a weird detour in the "Beyond" saga that adds many extraneous elements but precious little that actually feels consequential to the overarching story. Skip this one unless you're a completist or an old-school Slingers fan. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Weird Science Jim
Feb 12, 2022Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY was not only inconsequential to the overall Beyond story but was just not a good read by itself. It felt like a backdoor pilot for a Slinger's book I can only pray never happens. I liked the art enough, but the character work and story were just plain bad. Read Full Review
