Dec 04, 2024Christian Ward's take on Two-Face was impressive before, and it is impressive again. Honestly, Ward had me from "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH." Despite the logic of how the White Church isn't all the way solid, this was an entertaining first issue. Ward seems to understand the power of Harvey's voice and adeptly leans into the characters strengths. Fabio Veras is doing the lord's work, or rather just the kind of art I like, and successfully delivers on the tone. So far, the Lake and the plausibility of Harvey's double dealing are among the narrative flaws, but the promise of delving deeper into his psyche is too big to pass up. Harvey Dent's first ongoing series starts off with BANG! From the get go, the art is phenomenal and is enough to pull you in alone. I had my reservations that this would just be a gimmicky, throw away series but I was dead wrong. Christian Ward has given Two Face a very compelling plot line and supporting cast here just in issue 1 that keeps you wanting more. Every page really brought me in to the story and left me dying to know what was coming next and of course the final page really leaves you wanting issue #2 like immediately. I am very, VERY excited to see what is in store for Gotham's favorite bad boy lawyer 🪙

I very much enjoyed this. The internal battle of each Dent is something I'm willing to explore again, having not done so in many years. This has potential. Ward's other Batman work was solid. As such, I'm giving this a fair shake. Roll on #2.

This book was better than it had any right to be. I really didn't think this would be any good considering the amount of garbage fluff books that are thrown out every month but I had a good time with this. Harvey remains crazy but with a new twist that has me excited to see what's next. Good job by all involved.
