After four decades of waiting, “Morning of the Magician” finally gives readers the closure they’ve been craving. It’s a dense, unapologetically bold piece of storytelling that doesn’t bother holding your hand, and it’s better for it. If you’ve been on the fence, definitely pick this one up. It’s one of those rare cases where the legend actually lives up to the reality. Read Full Review

The long wait is over as Swamp Thing renews his trek to time’s beginnings in a very intense chapter. Veitch pens a unique look at Jesus’ impact thought superhero eyes with strong writing. The art captures the effect of the encounter with superb art. This issue is a testament to the levels of storytelling that can only be achieved by comics. Read Full Review

Swamp Thing 1989 #1 stands out as a fascinating and ambitious story that pushes into territory few comics dare to explore. Rick Veitch approaches religious mythology with care and curiosity, weaving Swamp Thing into biblical events in a way that feels thoughtful and provocative. The framing material adds important historical context, giving the book an added layer of significance beyond the story itself. Michael Zulli’s art enhances the surreal tone, especially in the more cosmic sequences, creating a sense of awe and unease. The issue remains a compelling and unique piece of comics history that invites discussion and reflection. Read Full Review

This issue is a must-have for any SWAMP THING fan past or present, as well as collectors of milestone issues. It’s a beautifully told story of Swampy’s time-traveling encounter with Jesus, his disciples, and the Romans, culminating in the Crucifixion. There’s a wonderful essay included in the issue by Stephen Bissette that gives proper background and context to the series in 1989, along with a look at the cultural underpinnings taking place that year in entertainment and politics that DC was being influenced by in terms of their decision to cancel the publication of issue 88. It’s easy to see some of those same turbulent political and cultural forces still in play here in 2026, which makes DC’s decision to finally publish the issue very com more
