These two issues have gone an enormous way towards making Snyder and Tynion's Luthor a fully fleshed-out antagonist, as compelling as the heroes, and their take on Brainiac is genuinely menacing. Issue 17 featured Lex and Martian Manhunter and this one focused on Lex and Brainiac. Luthor is in danger of becoming the principal character in Justice League so it's nice to know the next few issues have the team battling a different opponent. What follows is a history of Vandal Savage bringing the power to the greatest minds throughout history. But I think the most fascinating panels in this issue are when Vandal meets with Lex's father. It leads to one of the best exchanges I've seen in a comic book lately. Read Full Review

Luthor calls game on Braniac as the two gargantuan intellects join forces like KD and the 73-9 Warriors. The Justice League are now the clear underdogs. Let's hope they can pull off a major upset. The fate of the universe depends on it. Read Full Review

James Tynion IV further implants himself as the next in line for the main Justice League title with yet another masterful take on the most sinister villains of The DC Universe. As the next arc dealing with the Justice League of the 6th Dimension begins next issue, now is the perfect time for anyone who hasnt been reading to start. DC has been teasing that something big is happening across the entire line of DCU titles, and it is clear that Justice League is going to be a pivotal piece of this major event. Tynion once again takes us into the motivations surrounding the Legion of Doom and while there is very little action in this story, if youve been following Justice League since the start, this issue is quite mindblowing. These Legion of Doom issues are character studies, and they are usually pretty interesting ones at that. Justice League #18 is no exception, and while it has its warts, I think it's my favorite issue by James Tynion since he teamed up with Guillem March to put the spotlight on Joker. Ferry and Hi-fi create a distinct aesthetic, and the storytelling works for the most part"even if Ferry drops the ball from time to time. This is a solidly enjoyable read. Read Full Review

This issue is a fairly essential read for the Justice League series as a whole. A lot is learned in the pages of this comic, and Lex Luthor continues to become a very interesting character here. Justice League #18is good, but it isn't great. Although the issue provides some insightful context, it seems like Tynion is stalling, biding his time until the next arc begins. The last few “Legion of Doom” issues have been fairly good at striking a balance between plot and context; unfortunately, this issue leans too far in one direction. Luckily, the art makes up for some of the issue's shortcomings, as Ferry's pencils are fun and engaging. Certainly, this issue will become more important as the series continues. This Legion of Doom issue gives an expanded look at a lot of stuff we already know and while it gets the bad guys on the same page, it didn't need a whole issue to do it.  I really liked the art, but this one just didn't feel necessary in the overall scheme of things. Read Full Review

Overall, I enjoyed the history within this issue. But at the same time, there are still plenty of problems with this book. Hopefully, Snyder and Tynion can make the Legion feel like a team again instead of just villains who betray each other or get relegated to the background. Read Full Review

A lot of well written and much needed history, of Vandal Savage and Lionel Luthor - it adds more depth. No complaints about the art, it's suitable for the nature of this comic. It's deeply interesting to know why Luthor is the most badass villain there is, he seem to have a backup plan for every situation these days especially after Joker incident.

I'm not a fan of the art and the huge expository dump that happens in this issue, but the story itself is ok and there's just something unnerving about "emotional" Brainiac.

The artwork seems to have gone downhill a bit from last. The story seems a bit confusing especially how we got from Brainiac betraying Lex to them working co-existing. We get a bit background information that is probably a bit too much background information.
