Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles
Jun 06, 2018A page near the end slyly teases some of the events in store, including some characters fans have been clamoring to see return for a while. Justice League #1 is everything I wanted from this book. With a creative team of top talent and a lineup of DC's top guns, this is a no-brainer pick-up. This finally feels like the Rebirth of the Justice League that I've wanted all along. Read Full Review

Bounding Into Comics - Daniel Mills
Jun 06, 2018The writer had us fooled all along. Batman will always be his formative work at DC Comics, but the first pages of Justice League feel like something else. Like the kind of story and feeling you never want to end. The kind of series you'll be asking to return to years later. It's only just the beginning, but unfortunately we're already one step closer to the end of what is clearly going to be an incredible comic series. Justice League #1 doesn't take the team anywhere new, it takes them right where they belong. Read Full Review

Jun 06, 2018Snyder gets off to a great start with this issue, pointing the League in an exciting new direction for the future, but also showing plenty of respect for the League's past. If Snyder maintains the level of quality evident in this debut issue, then DC's foremost team is in good hands. Read Full Review

Jun 06, 2018Snyder also provides glimpses into the past, present and future -- not just on the opening page, but deeper in as well, leaving fans to wonder about the fate of Adam Strange (who, with KRYPTON being the Syfy hit that it is, makes him a prime candidate to bring back into regular rotation), the power of the Joker, and the cosmic entities bearing down on the Multiverse. It's great action -- but it's greater inter-action that makes JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 a true gem! Read Full Review

Jun 07, 2018While the title had been lacking its charm since Geoff Johns left the title prior to DC Rebirth in 2016, this issue truly feels like the beginning of something special without feeling like a rehash of an old storyline. If this issue is any indication of what is yet to come, there still so much yet in store for readers this summer and beyond. Justice League by Scott Snyder is the unarguable flagship title published by DC Comics; this is only the beginning. Read Full Review

Jun 14, 2018Justice League #1 is an amazing return to form on what Briant Hitch bombed for a beginning of DC Rebirth and what Christopher Priest struggled to deal with after the bomb fell. Now after a weekly event Like No Justice clearing the board for a new beginning for the League, Scott Snyder begins with a familiar lineup and launches the correct type of explosive. That makes people want so much more. Thank God, it's a biweekly book. Highly recommend it but go read No Justice first to avoid confusion. Read Full Review

Jun 06, 2018Justice League #1 is what you want out of superhero comics. Jun 05, 2018Concentrating the bulk of the story and exposition on Martian Manhunter and later, Lex Luthor gave the story a great sense of focus. It took the burden off the hands of characters that we expect to lead a narrative and allows for the focus to be on this bigger story forming around them. The juxtaposition between the League's deliberations about this incoming entity heading their way and Luthor's reaction creates some great dramatic tension, especially knowing that Luthor seems to know more than he's letting on. There is a really interesting mystery forming in this book and I can't wait to see where it goes. Read Full Review

May 28, 2019It's dialogue-heavy to be sure and not quite the slam-bam some might expect from a Justice League book but it does drop us into things hard and fast and you have to work to keep up on it and I like that. You're expected to know or figure everyone out and Snyder is working with some big topics and ideas here with what the threat is right out of the gate. I love Jim Cheung's work as the book looks great overall with its designs and I'm curious as to how the story plays out, which at least there should be a few trades I can sink my teeth into in order to find out. Jun 06, 2018You have to admire a writer like Snyder. Once famous for dark stories with a horror vibe, he seemed perfectly suited for Batman and it showed with a great run on Detective and some stellar work on the New 52 Batman book. Not content with his Bat-corner of the universe, some would argue that it showed in his version of All-Star Batman, Snyder went full on heroes mode with Metal. Now, taking on the League, he may have finally found the type of book that his sprawling narrative will find to hard to overwhelm, especially if there are sweeping arcs in play. Read Full Review

Jun 07, 2018This has my interest, the story has some potential flaws and plot holes, although they can be addressed in later issues. Additionally while this is heralded as a 'new era' those without a familiarity with a lot of recent DC events won't find much meaning in some of the key plot points. Otherwise I am most curious to see what happens with the sometimes super villain, sometimes anti-hero Lex Luthor as well as the Justice League lead of the story " the Martian Manhunter who had a particularly engaging arc this issue.
