Dark Knight News - Steve J Ray
Nov 10, 2017Man, am I excited or what?!? The title alone is deep, and a clever reversal of the name of the arc that began James Tynion's DC Rebirth era of Detective Comics, "The Rise Of The Batmen." The new story begins in two (frustrating) weeks time. While I'm waiting, I think I'll read issue #968 again, because as comics go, this one's another: Read Full Review

Nov 08, 2017Tynion might not be able to get to all these future mysteries, but theres no better book to have Batman and company start a proactive mission to ensure that future doesnt become reality. Read Full Review

Nov 08, 2017Speaking of art, DC made sure that we got some quality work done because Alvaro Martinez and his team killed it. Their artwork is so detailed and immaculate. I especially loved the page where Tim and Bat-Tim are looking out over the city. I could frame that and put it on my wall with my collection. I highly recommend this issue for the conclusion to this wonderful story. Include it in your pull for the week. Read Full Review

Nov 09, 2017The ending is abrupt, and it may have been a little too easy to let things play out that way. But as a complete package, this was one of the best issues to come out this week. Read Full Review

Nov 09, 2017From beginning to end "A Lonely Place Of Living" delivered on making the return of Tim Drake's return to the DC Universe feel like a big event. And with Detective Comics #968 James Tynion and Alvaro Martinez were able to create an ending that has major ramifications for the future of the entire Batman Family. Moving forward there are a lot of intriguing questions in the air that will keep Batman fans wanting more from whatever Tynion has planned for Detective Comics. Read Full Review

Nov 10, 2017Tim Drake's return is complete, and the future of Detective Comics looks both promising and abundant. The lag that impacted this title for the past few months has diminished, and energy has been restored to the narrative. While I feel the issue itself is a bit rushed, the action is solid, and the themes and characterization infused into the story make up for any opportunities that pop up. For me, "A Lonely Place of Living" will serve as a high point for Detective Comics, and I'm excited to see what the future holds! Welcome back, Tim Drake! Read Full Review

Nov 09, 2017Detective Comics #968 is a strong finish for the comics latest story arc. Tim Drake is a great protagonist, and Im glad he gets the spotlight this issue. The story is tense and emotional, and the art is damn good. I recommend this one; give it a read. Read Full Review

Nov 14, 2017Even with a non-violent end there is still a lot of action in this issue and some great visuals courtesy of the pencils of Alvaro Martinez and inking talent of Raul Fernandez. The visuals, which are accentuated beautifully with the coloring skills of Tomeu Morey, capture your attention and draw you into the DCU. Read Full Review

Nov 14, 2017Tynion, Martinez, Fernandez, and Morey deliver an action-packed and dramatic ending to a compelling arc. The contrivances Tynion engineers to get everyone to avoid asking their antagonist what Batwoman does to ruin Tims life and the team are silly and irritating. But like every other issue in this run, the narrative flows smoothly, the action is top notch and the art is always good, if not great. Plus, no character is ever neglected and everyone always gets a chance to shine. Detective Comics remains one of DCs top ten books. Read Full Review

Nov 08, 2017There simply isn't much to talk about since this issue revisits many beats, themes, and conversations from previous issues. It's still a good comic, but the arc has gone on for an issue too long which shouldn't really be the case in a four-issue arc. The art is pretty great, though. Read Full Review

Nov 08, 2017This was just another big Rebirth moment that fell flat (see JLA for the other) and that's a real shame. Getting Tim Drake back should have been a big thing and while it started off promising, the forced and quick ending just killed it. Read Full Review

Comic Book Bin - Philip Schweier
May 08, 2018I haven't read many Batman comics in recent years. The franchise has become a bit bloated, much like the old Dick Sprang days when there was a Batman for everynation, and a bat-costume in every color. I wouldnt object to some judicious pruning of the property. Seeing the entire Bat-team in their personal fleet of bat-planes stretches my capacity for rational thought. Read Full Review
