    Comic Watch - Duna Haller

Adorable, emotionful and immensely important short story that puts Harlivy in its place as the cutest girlfriends of DC, and that goes to the necessary lengths to make them justice. Overall, really happy about this, and, if you're a fan of them, there's no way you won't enjoy it! Read Full Review

    But Why Tho? - Quinn

    Jun 08, 2021

Just in time for LGBT Pride Month, DC Pride #1brings us some cute, heart-warming tales of queer superheroes. And while all the creative teams in this anthology have done some great work, the real point of this book is how it may mean the world to someone struggling to come to terms with their identity. Kabooooom - Matt Morrison

Everyone involved in DC Pride #1 should be proud of their work on this book. The stories assembled here are all about the heroic ideals of Truth, Justice and Freedom and tap into the core of what superhero stories should be. Anyone who finds anything objectionable about this would do well to read more comics. Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Tony Farina

DC Pride #1 is glorious. I love it. You should love it too. The choice of the word glorious there is a nod to the intro written by Marc Andrekyo. I am sure most people planned on skipping it. Don't. Seriously. He says everything I want to say here, in that essay. Buy this book. Give it to people you love. Give it to people who have open minds and to people with closed minds. Buy. Read. Repeat. Read Full Review

To put it simply, DC Pride is something I"and so many other LGBTQ+ readers"would have loved to read growing up, which makes its arrival in 2021 a source of celebration and pride. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - James Caudill

I could go on and on about how beautiful this book is and how well written the stories are. But, instead, I would suggest that you just go buy a copy. It is stunning. By day, I am a teacher of high school students that use comics in the classroom. I will certainly be adding a copy of this to my classroom library. These stories are so important. Everyone needs to see themselves represented in comics and now is a great time for these historically underrepresented groups to shine. I want my students to see themselves represented just like I want to see everyone represented. Please, go out and get this book. Buy an extra copy if you can to gift to someone who might need to read it. Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Logan Dalton

DC Pride #1 is a fantastic showcase not just for DC Comics' LGBTQ+ characters, but the company's LGBTQ+ creators too as they capture a range of relationships, feelings, sexualities, and gender identities. There's a lot of focus on established romantic relationships, but some of the stories explore activism, community, and the Midnighter/Extrano/John Constantine is a straight up adventure yarn. I enjoyed seeing myself and my queer siblings uplifted in this comic and hope DC can do something more ongoing with these characters, situations, and especially creators. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Rob Stryczek

Tynion starts this anthology off with a story of self acceptance and learning to find comfort in who you are. Navigating through the alienating trenches of life can feel almost suffocating. This creative team put together a powerful story to show their love for Batwoman. Absolutely a beautiful story that hit me close to home. Read Full Review

"Be Gay, Do Crime" is a fun, stylish story confronting systemic injustice. Yet, while the comic introduces a new queer character alongside Pied Piper, that characters queer identity remains strangely out of frame. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Madeleine Chan

Despite any qualms around performativity or rainbow-washing I may have with DC, the comic itself contains a plethora of great stories, ranging from cute and charming to heartfelt and intriguing accompanied by gorgeous pinups and cool interviews from DC TV stars. Definitely worth picking up for some fun content and to show DC that this kind of issue is something worth continuing. Read Full Review
