i was really tempted to get this series, but will definitely wait it out for the trade. . . . then wait some more once it goes on sale.

Jul 04, 2018The writing is tight and taut. The artwork is super fluid and is kinetic. The colors by Laura Allred are especially good and a real treat. I loved the setup in this issue. It's a good time and we need a good Catwoman series. This one seems fit to fill the bill. Read Full Review

Jul 04, 2018One issue in and this is already the best Catwoman we've gotten in years. Smart, agile, and tough, this just feels right. Jul 04, 2018The book's main idea is quite simple, there are copycats of all shapes and sizes and a new big bad that seems to have a hate on for everyone's favourite feline of felony. This book is a bit of a break from the norm. Hopefully, the talent of Joelle Jones will finally give Catwoman the book of quality that she deserves. Read Full Review

Jul 04, 2018I honestly don't know who the real star is here, Joelle Jones or Selina Kyle/ Catwoman. From start to finish, this book is pure purrfection! Not only does Jones drop the mic with an engaging, well-written, emotionally complex script, but she provides art that, if this were a film, would rival the greatest directors and actors in the industry. Quite frankly, this is the Catwoman book we've always wanted, and Joelle Jones is the storyteller we never knew we needed! Read Full Review

Geekery Magazine - Shawn A. Warner
Jul 04, 2018Joelle Jones has created an entertaining and intriguing debut issue full of fantastic visuals and first-rate character work. The dialog rings true and the overall writings is extremely solid. Very often a new number one is laden with superfluous exposition and tons of set up making for a laborious read at best. That is not the case here, I am definitely sticking around for the next chapter in this exciting new series. Read Full Review

Jul 07, 2018In short, I'm excited for Selina's Kyle's adventures under these creators and I really want to see the character define herself as something other than Bruce Wayne's main squeeze once more. Catwoman #1 is a fresh start for our hero, featuring amazing art, incredibly coloring and an intriguing story hook that never forgets about the woman inside the leather suit (and for once focuses on more than her big breasts). Graphic Policy - SHAY REVOLVER
Jul 04, 2018Catwoman #1is a page turner. There's a sweet slow start that immediately turns up the heat and comes to a full boil by the end. The artwork doesn't feel like Jones' best work or feels fresh but it serves the narrative well and complements the interesting story. The great thing about this issue is that even though you know going in what the story is about there are still little surprises and twists and turns that make what could have been a run of the mill arc an actual page turner. The action's nice, the art is classic but sassy, and the writing's clever. It's definitely worth a read. Read Full Review

Jul 04, 2018Catwoman #1 puts Selina in one of her most vulnerable states as of late. She's down, she's been kicked while she's down, and now she's pissed when now is not the time for her to lose control of her life. A cat is always dangerous when you put their back against the wall. I do hope this series touches upon a new side of Selina and Catwoman that we haven't seen before. Read Full Review

Jul 04, 2018Catwoman #1 is a must read for die-hard fans of the character, and a recommended read for anyone slightly interested in her. Jones hints at an unfolding mystery that juxtaposes the much more interesting personal struggle, but it'll certainly be interesting to see how the two connect. This issue sports top tier comic art and a much needed recognition of DC's feline felon. Read Full Review

Jul 09, 2018Joelle Jones gives Selina Kyle's new ongoing series a solid start with Catwoman #1. From the beginning Jones sets up how Selina is now in a rebuilding mode as she is trying to figure out what she should be doing next. This state of unknown as to what exactly Selina's future in and out her Catwoman disguise creates a lot of potential for what this series can and will be. For Catwoman fans this is a must buy. And if you have ever been interested in Catwoman from her time in the Batman comics I recommend checking this issue out as a starting point for Selina Kyle's solo adventures. Read Full Review

Jul 13, 2018I won't be back to this Catwoman. The story is okay, but the villain outshines the title character who isn't in costume enough. The visuals were the real black eye for me, with realism making things too difficult to see. If I can't see the art clearly, I might as well save my money and buy a novel. Read Full Review
