Cat's far from out of the bag as Selina is still trying to uncover this sinister plot against her. There are multiple women donning her suit, and none of them will give her a straight answer. Catwoman is a fascinating exploration of a heart broken anti-hero, who, as we have seen in the recent Batman arc, is by her very nature a solitary criminal. That doesn't mean she's all bad and she certainly is a strong enough character to carry her own series. Read Full Review

Jolle Jones taking the helm of this ship has been a delight in terms of story as well as visuals, and Laura Allred and Josh Reed on the supporting cast are just as skilled. Its another solid issue for sure, although its starting to feel like the artwork is doing the bulk of the heavy lifting to this point. Dont get me wrong, there are some interesting storyline elements at play here, and the new villain is definitely worthy of your attention, but it doesnt feel like the story has quite made it into full gear just year. Regardless, Jones track record should be considered pretty much impeccable by this point, so theres absolutely no reason not to pick this latest issue up. Read Full Review

While Catwoman isn't knocking it out of the park for me, Joelle Jones is layering and seeing interesting elements into it as it establishes more of the foundations of what it wants to be. It's definitely enjoyable when Selina is on the stage and doing what she does while Raina's side of the book is still curious and intriguing with what she's up to. Jones handles both sides well, though she gets to shine more on the artwork side with Selina whether she's lounging in bed or scratching some copycats pretty hard. I'm still curious to see where the arc goes and it's an easy enough monthly read to keep up with. Read Full Review

In the end, though, the pros outweigh the cons, and the opportunities presented within the issue are easy to overcome. Lots of competing powers are up in the air right now. We found out why whoever brought these copycats together did so and we hear about troubling changes in Catwoman's world. All the while we see Selina, sad and alone after her departure in Batman #50. I'm excited to read where the story goes from here. Read Full Review

Catwoman #2 is a decent read. The opening fight and the quieter moments with Selina gel with ease, but the plot and villain are too vague and nondescript to be interesting yet. Hopefully that will change with subsequent issues. That said, the art is so good that I can still recommend this one. Feel free to check it out. Read Full Review

There's a bit of action here as Selena dispatches the various impostors in mostly a page, more of Selina failing to find a good night's sleep, a sequence involving her supplier stocking her with new gadgets (the humor here sadly is nearly as groan-worthy as the items), and Selena deciding to go straight to the source to find out just who wants Catwoman, and why. Unfortunately Catwoman #2 suffers from having an antagonist that has yet to be put over as a credible threat with clear motives. Unlike the first issue, I didn't like this issue much.  The art continues to impress, but there just isn't much of a story yet and where I was so impressed with the lack of Batman references in the last issue, here they come hot and heavy.  I still have faith in Joelle Jones, but I'm entering the "show me" stage with this book. The art is phenomenal! I'm interested to see what this big plan is. We continue to see the emotional toll that Selina has taken from recent events. Doesn't explain why she did what she did, but that's not really for Jones to do. So far I'm enjoying this book.

Joelle Jones turns in another fantastic issue with Catwoman #2. Now that Jones has been able to separate from the structured Batman story arc, this issue breathes a little freer. Art-wise, Joelle Jones has an eye for the action in even quiet moments - moonlight highlighting the silhouette of a cat, a ring box snapping shut, a menacing snarl at a cornered opponent. Her dynamic style is equally suited for these quiet moments and the action sequences. Perhaps it's the fact that DC has printed this on a matte paper stock similar to the reprint trade paperback stock, but Jones' use of solid colors and a heavy linework make this series look like an old-school Golden Age comic book. Even though the scenes change frequently throughout the issue, the pacing is a little slow though. I would have preferred to see a little more development of the governor and crooked cop stories, and we still don't have answers or many new developments regarding the questions posed by the first issue. We now know where the story takes place, but many of the other characters and motivations are still a mystery. Deductions on this issue are for the slower pacing. In summary Catwoman #2 is worth reading if you love Joelle Jones, you love looking at beautifully drawn characters, you don't mind the slow tease, and you're a fan of Catwoman. Either cover is worth picking up. more

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful art. Ms. Jones is just amazing at her craft. As for the story, nothing major happens that pushes the plot forward, but we get to see that the villain is a rather ruthless person who does not tolerate failures. One nitpick though. Inconsistency in the new costume. In the first issue, the costume has flat feet, something more burglar-esque, but in this issue, there are big high heels all of a sudden. Like I said, a nitpick, but it kinda bothered me through the entire fight scene.

This was a pretty good second issue. I think Joelle Jones still has room to improve as a writer, as the dialogue is minimalistic and nothing really stands out about it. If I'm being honest, the script is quite bland. The overall plot is still pretty good, however, once again nothing really to make it stand out from the several Bat-Books out right now. I do like the combat scenes which may have taken up a bit too many pages, as they really just show variations of Selina beating the crap out of a different copycat, not progressing the story anywhere. However, they are still very satisfying action scenes. The story still has one major problem however, and that's too many secondary characters. They are all original characters who don't really h ave any "character" at all, and I find it not only hard to keep track of who's who in the new town, but also just find myself trying to care. Lastly I didn't like the end as it just kind of abruptly ended, as if , "Oh my twenty pages are up! Guess that's it for this issue!", not really doing anything to get you excited for the next issue, something that would run over smoothly in trade format, but needs to be slightly better for a single issue in a monthly series. That said, the art is still great and Joelle Jones has mastered the look of this comic as it stands out from others visually. All in all, a series that still interests me, but it is slowly falling of the rails, and I hope it can get back on track. more

i've been tempted to try this series, but i don't think Catwoman books usually hold up over time. i'll probably end up getting a digital collected edition when it goes on sale. DC always takes Batman's best supporting cast and tries to sell them in their own title. i just find they usually don't stand to well on their own.

As far as the "supporting cast" comics go, this is probably the best one right now. It has some really great art, and a good story, just some filler moments, and pretty weak supporting characters, minus the villain.

i did like the concept design of the main villain. when i browsed the first issue and saw her pulling the prosthetics off her face, that really was pretty spooky. i just wish the supporting cast titles were more tightly nit like they used to be. i just don't think DC's current stable of writers can handle juggling various titles like the ones back when we had Knightfall, No Man's Land, Legacy, etc...

This series has a very good villain, and (of course) main character. Other than that, not too many other good characters. Selina's sister was a pretty interesting character, more for how they explored the relationship between her and Selina than the actual character though.

DC does need to have their series be more "closely knit", a great way of putting it. That reminds me of the last issue of Heroes in Crisis, which featured a scene with Lois Lane working at the Planet, yet in Bendis's run she does not work there. I am fairly sure that both of these stories take place in present time and are canon, so the continuity error was pretty distracting for me.

is that Selina’s sister Magdalene that is or was a Nun? hopefully they are bringing back Catwoman’s former history (pre-new52). i didn’t like any of the changes the new52 made to her backstory. . . . . . yeah. there has been a real lack in the cohesiveness within many of DC’s titles across the board. editorial just doesn’t even try to have it all line up. i’ve also found it very distracting.

It is Maggie! I'm not a huge Catwoman fan, so I know very little about her backstory, I simply picked this series up for Joelle's art and the previews had me sold. Yes, I feel like one of the reasons the out-of-continuity series are doing so well is because they are able to tell the story they want to without worrying about continuity errors like that one.

ah! good! i hope they've wiped out all of that malarkey from the New52 away. it's so hard to keep up with what's going on with Selina Kyle with all the soft reboots they keep doing. one of my favorite eras with her besides the Jim Balent run was around the time she was being drawn by Alan Davis and actually knew Bruce's secret identity and was fighting along side Batman & Robin (until Joker kidnapped and brainwashed her).
