I also like how Waid has constructed the first year of this book. A five part story followed by a stand-alone one-and-done. Single issue stories are a wonderful throwback. I read it this morning and thought “that’s really good”. I read it the second time after dinner and concluded it’s freaking brilliant. If you find yourself working to get through comics, this is the type of book that makes it all worthwhile. I’d give it 20 out of 10.

Waid has a great knack for fun storytelling and it pairs perfectly with Dan Mora's expressive character work. I particularly love their interpretation of Superman, throughout not only this issue, but the entire series. He's honest, hopeful, and driven by the need to do the right thing. Mora's able to capture the character, in all his boy scout glory, perfectly. You can feel the emotion coming off the page and it really makes a big impact on the reader.

I thought he turned into Magog in the last issue, but apparently, that was not the case. So, from the beginning I was confused. After I got over that, I thought the book was quite good. Superman going through a whirlwind of emotions really draws you in. I'm looking forward to the new storyline.

The ending was a letdown and kind of added nothing to the story, which is a pity since it was so good till now. Also, Superman lies. He lies every time he tells people he's Clark Kent and not Superman. While what Bendis did with that was a mess, Bendis was right.
