Aug 20, 2025With Project: Gemini in full swing, the Dynamic Duo look for any signs of hope. Waids script balances out the action with a strong emotional pull. Samnee and Lopes rev up the engines for an incredible escape from Gotham City. Year One pushes the complex history of Grayson and Wayne to new levels each time out. Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - D.M. Grant
Aug 22, 2025Nearing the end of this series (I believe it's meant for twelve issues), I still don't think this is the sharpest saga Waid's ever crafted. I still wish Dick were characterized a little better and that the continuity were a tiny bit tighter. But Batman an Robin: Year One #10 plays to everyone's strengths, and I was gobbling up each page. Really hoping we continue this momentum from here on out. Read Full Review

AIPT - Christopher Franey
Aug 20, 2025Batman and Robin: Year One #10 is a fast-paced, action-driven chapter that thrives on cause-and-effect storytelling. Waid and Samnee lean into both the spectacle of escapes and car chases while continuing to build the Bat-family dynamic, creating a tale that's equal parts thrilling and heartfelt. With Clayface and Two-Face manipulating the field, the stakes feel both larger than Gotham and deeply personal, especially when the fight comes crashing into Wayne Manor itself. This issue proves that the Dynamic Duo's bond is as much their strength as it is their greatest vulnerability. Read Full Review

it's shocking on how spread out Mark Waid is right now. Justice League unlimited, Worlds Finest, and this. But I genuinely like this series, it's my favorite out of the bunch. I hope this series runs for at least 24 issues.

I'm not sure how much I buy the premise of replacing everyone with, well, hired goons, but the big switch from the rather bland Grimaldi to actual big name villains has really kicked this comic into overdrive.

This story is okay. But it will read much better in trade form, which it clearly seems intended for. This really doesn't read all that great in month to month format. No issue issue in particular from this series really stands out. Everything just feels like one long drawn out single plot. Robin Year One was much more memorable and compelling with its episodic presentation. Each of the four issues was its own theme and had its own distinct tone. That being said, as before, this is okay. I've read worse. If anything, this just makes me want to reread Robin Year One again.
