Batman #121 was a great issue that gave a solid and satisfying ending to both the main and backup storylines. I have especially enjoyed the backup with Maps. DC really needs to bring back Gotham Academy. I look forward to seeing what Williamson has planned for the Batman in the upcoming Shadow War crossover, especially considering that the story will reunite Bruce with his son Damian. Batman #121 does a fantastic job closing out the two storylines that have been running in this series the last few months. Both Joshua Williamson and Karl Kerschl create such fantastic character moments that showcase what makes the Batman franchise special. Batman #121 wraps up the Abyss story arc with some growth for Batman and a cool concept that flips Abyss' strength on its head. It closes things off a little too conveniently, though, and spends crucial time setting up "Shadow War" when Abyss is let off the hook storytelling-wise. Batman #121 brings a hugely satisfying end to the Badhnisia set storyline, wrapping events up nicely but with a few select lingering threads to be pulled at, further down the line. Batman #121 is an entertaining issue and finale to an entertaining arc. It dialed things back after what feels like a decade of ever increasing threats. It feels quaint and grounded in a way but also makes things bit boring because of that. It's driving 30 after going 100 for a while. Batman #121 was one of the worst, most forced, and convoluted endings to a story I've read in a long time.  I am pretty sure that plans changed, and Williamson and Co. had to get out of this story fast, but it shouldn't have been so obvious.  This sort of thing should never happen, but having it happen with Batman is unbelievable!  Most of my score is for the Maps backup and the art because the main story was awful. The comic limps home to a finish with Batman tracking the escaping villain and by teasing the next big arc for Batman on his return home with a cameo by Deathstroke and the latest version of the Secret Society of Super-Villains. I enjoyed this arc a lot. If you read the solicitations, you know where things are going… Williamson is gonna take Batman into Shadow War and then he’s gone. Making way for Chip Zdarsky… who I also like. Part of me feels like Williamson was the right writer at the wrong time. Yet I am still optimistic about Zdarsky.

Overall this was a good story, with great art and a nice message, which can even be interpreted as a commentary on Batman, that he should not be so broody and dark all the time, which considering the last runs comes at the right time. Williamson kinda overdid the whole darkness thing IMO, but at it's core it's about how batman should not fall pray to the darkness and to appreciate and enjoy the good things, when they come. He can't solely exist in the darkness, he needs also light to work and to function and that sometimes the light also needs batman. And that honestly is a great idea, where you can go quite deep and I think he knew that, so he was a bit overexcited about it, so that's why at times the themes seemed heavy handled. Ofc there can be more interpretations of what this arc meant. But yeah all in all Bruce was pretty good during this arc. Abyss is a fine character, nothing spectacular, kinda simple, but understandable, with a nice contrast to Batman, which is not a small feat and served the story and the themes well. Do I think we will see more of him? Probably no or at least not much. Maybe I needed more time not knowing about him and his story, to build up the mystery and the menace, for him to hit me harder. Because right now he feels like a character, that soon will be forgotten. As for the art, Batman's been on a streak of great artist lately. Honestly it's even hard to chose between Molina and Jimenez. Molina is somewhat less dramatic, but more realistic and adding the colors more atmospheric. more

Feels like they just wanted to Finish the arc before the shadow war maybe that's why it feels another issue is missing. i just hope shadow war is as good as they making it to be.

This was a solid ending to a pretty engaging arc. Knowing that Zdarsky is taking over so soon kind of takes some of the wind out of this run's sails. But hopefully Shadow War is a fun crossover and not another Fear State. The art was great.

Introduce a new villain and that's it?? No enough background story before Williamson leaves Batman's main series. Glad the artwork remains attractive.

Not a bad conclusion to what was a pretty satisfactory story. I wish I could say I was anticipating the Shadow war story, but I don't expect it to be as good as this was. I have to get 2 titles I don't read to see it all. I'm not a real fan of that. But this issue finished the story on time before it grew stale. Usually 4 chapters is how long it goes before it begins to grow old. Since Abyss got away I have a feeling he'll pop up during the next story. The backup story was rather poor, but it did feature the Batman costume of old that I miss. If Zdarsky is coming to Batman it may be a good idea. But he's known to write extra long stories. that I'm not too thrilled for. But he still did good on Spectacular Spider-Man, so I'm sure he'll at least live up to Williamson here. That means better than King or Tynion. more

The ending fell pretty flat for me to be honest. Williamson left himself too much to wrap up and probably could have used another issue to do it, as everything here felt rushed and a bit overexplained. The setup pages at the end of the story felt really forced as well. On a more positive note, Molina's art was really sharp and the Maps story had a solid ending.

Great art but for a fine-but-mediocre writer Williamson is spread too thin. I'd be totally cool with reading two monthlies from him and I'm sure I'd like them fine as I did his Flash but I'm also sure that, like his Flash, they wouldn't be anything special. I don't think he's bad, I just don't think he's particularly interesting. His enthusiasm for DC Comics and its characters goes a long way with me though and I'm genuinely looking forward to Dark Crisis. A lot. Even though I found his IF mini only okay and his JLIncarnate mini to be a slog. Just, not the main Batman title please. I know it's not a popular opinion *here* but I freaking loved King's Batman run. That it should be cut short for the aggressively dull Tynion run followed by this could-it-be-more-of-a-fill-in run, when he only had like 15 issues to go, when I was 85 issues invested in it, was a crime. That's in the past though and I'm glad this run will be soon too. Well done with Zdarsky, DC. Even if it's not great, even if the non-continuity series or in-continuity miniseries' are better (and they almost always are), the main Batman title should at least be interesting and good and it just hasn't been in too long a time. more

Batman 121 Historia por Joshua Williamson y Jorge Molina, empieza donde nos dejo el issue pasado con una plot twist the Batman inc contra Bruce y un murciélago que se ve obligado a hacer equipo con uno de los peores, luthor. Lo Bueno La historia continúa siendo una historia muy fácil de leer y entender, no es una lectura pesada es una lectura para relajarse y disfrutar del murciélago antes del nuevo equipo creativo, las paginas hechas por Molina están geniales. Lo malo El cambio de artista en medio issue te saca completamente de la secuencia que se llevaba desde anteriores issues, desde nuestra opinión no creemos que cambiar un artista en medio de un issue sea lo mejor cambia completamente la estética y le quita esa uniformidad a la que uno viene acostumbrado en todo el arco. El equipo entre Batman y Lex luthor es algo de lo que no somos fans para nada, me parece que es un Bruce que sobrepasa sus propios valores para hacerlo y es algo que el murcielago nunca hace y siempre encuentra otra alternativa. El plot twist de que al final si estaba trabajando Batman Inc con Batman estuvo pésimo como escritor no creemos que sea bueno que recurras a usar el mismo elemento para crear dos cambiso de trama prácticamente iguales Para Terminar Al ser una lectura muy básica seguimos con un run de Batman sin transfondo y sin una meta a largo plazo ni una amenaza real, es un comic con buena estructura y buen arte pero muy muy standard more

Great art, but a story that is all this happens and then this happens. Unfortunately nothing happens organically. Batman wins because it is his book. We don’t see him develop his plan and we don’t get any clues. We are just told, not shown that Batman and his League of Ethnic stereotypes were on the ball and saw through Luthor’s plan. apparently they didn’t work with Batman but Bats and the league still managed to figure things out separately. Luthor’s plan was to create his own league of Batman. But I only read this I issue once, so many of the details may have escaped me. But what does Luthor’s plan get him? Control of bat groups around the world? So? And Luthor’s is told by the league that they never cashed his ch ecks? That is what detectives call an important detail, and Luthor never noticed. I also missed what Abyss was all about. He could blind Bats until Bats pulled out his anti-abyss tech and got his sight back? Again, I am glossing over details, but no bread crumbs were laid out so that what happens in this issue makes sense. We are just told that everyone figured out stuff off page. In the golden and silver age, writers would actually leave clues that paid off. Example in one Batman Superman tale from the 1950s, Batman busts a crook’s alibi based on the shoes the crook is wearing. The crook said he was an electrician doing a job and that was why he was in the area when a jewel heist took place. Bats noticed his shoes had leather soles, not rubber, which is what electricians wear. Bats also figured out where the diamonds were hidden, in the bullets of the suspects’ guns. Superman searched the ship with X-ray vision and could not find the jewels. Bats figured the lead in the bullets made a great shield to hide the jewels. Now that is clever, and that was playing fair. Showed what Bats brought to the table. None of that here. I will say that I liked that Bats learned the importance of teamwork in this issue. It as “after school special” obvious but made for a nice change from “Stay out of my city, I work alone except for my 47 Robins and Batgirls, who I never use in my big events.” So nice ideas but bad execution. The status quo of Lex knowing who Batman is, but not actually doing anything Green Goblin with this info also bothers me. Or I could be wrong. more

Wow! What a THUD!!! The use of Batman Incorporated was pointless. The characterizations of the Club of Heroes was cookie-cutter generic. Just an empty promise.
