Arion and Vivienne are intriguing new additions to the series, as these magical beings are Arthur's tutors as he enters a strange new world of magic and myth. By the end of the issue, I'm definitely left wanting more and that's the mark of a good title. I'm hoping we get some answers about the rest of the cast soon, but this series is expanding Aquaman's world and his rogues gallery in the biggest way we've seen in a very long time. Aquaman #4 has reverted back to a similar format to the earlier issues, where we get lots of action, and fast pacing of the issue. We are also getting holes filled in where needed and appropriately as to not give too much away, though at the same time we can see that we are coming to the end of the arc. Aquaman #4 shows why Jeremy Adams is DC's best writer. Like Geoff Johns 20 years ago, he is able to capture the substance of characters and integrate their histories into something new and exciting. Aquaman #4leans on the "Rule of Cool" to show Arthur kicking ass and taking names when he escapes the clutches of Dagon's mercenaries. Jeremey Adams's script elevates Aquaman's badassery score by fifty points, and John Timms's artwork looks amazing. That said, the issue is more action than story, so the plot takes a pause. Love the art and action. The power up that Aquaman has with the trident that can change between sword and Trident, I dig. Some of the pages made me look for a while because of how beautiful they were Great visuals/Great Action

Lori is acting weird for sure. It will be interesting when we meet Dagon and see his powers. This issue was pretty cool though. More seeing Aquaman use his powers in creative ways and a real power-up with his weapon. Lot of seeing him smash stuff now. Less on the back-foot now. Next issue I assume we get more lore drops. Art is great as always, enjoying this arturian-esque story so far.

It’s not often I come across a perfectly average comic these days. Both the writer and the artist are doing a solid job, I just don’t think Aquaman stands out in any significant way. I would have loved this in the 90s.

A lot of action, but not a lot of character depth. The art is great though, rich in colour which pairs well with the ocean themed settings.. Just wish there was more substance.

I love Jeremy and non-fans of Aquaman are loving it. That's great for them. However, as Aquaman is my favorite character -- this is not him. Wes and Drew from Thinking Critical said something on their show today that I found very poignant -- this is Absolute Aquaman. That I can understand. I know Jeremy was very proud of his weapon - but it makes no sense. What's the difference between wielding a trident and wielding a sword? In this case, nothing since the blade of the sword has to be round. It can't be edged since he still has to grip it once the prongs are pushed back up. I think the next issue is my last.
