I think we're getting intentionally slow-played right now. Duggan is rebuilding the public's trust in the X-Men (and showing us some really cool power usage along the way) before the little seeds being planted in the background bloom. I especially like the Urich stuff.

You Don't Read Comics - David Harth
Sep 22, 2021X-Men #3 shows that a superhero X-Men book can work in the Krakoa era if done right. Duggan impresses with this one. It's mostly just a big dumb action issue, but it all works, and it's a lot of funny. The ending is the icing on the cake, ready to throw a spanner into the Krakoan works on multiple levels. Larraz and Gracia deliver on the visuals and elevate the script immensely. This is the best issue of the book so far, hands down. Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - Dispatchdcu
Sep 22, 2021Duggan continues to prove that he's cut out to lead the charge with the head X-MEN title. At first, many were concerned that Hickman's absence would derail and sideline what's been rebuild and redesigned. However, since stepping in, Duggan's X-MEN has been well crafted, lively, thrilling, and rather eventful. X-MEN #3 is the perfect snapshot of what's in store for this X-roster as well as the narrative potential in which should excite comic fans moving forward. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Ryan.L
Sep 22, 2021Overall, this is yet another outstanding issue. This book really jams so much into it but manages to never feel like it is going in too many directions. This issue especially has an amazing battle and display of powers and then a shocking ending that will have a massive impact on the mutants and the world. This is a must-read series. If it is not on your pull-list, then it should be. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings
Jan 01, 1970X-Men #3 continues to pit its heroes against all manner of threats, while slowly building up future plotlines that threaten to rock Krakoa to its core. The last page is a major bombshell, and I'm intrigued to see where the creators might take it as well as how it can impact other books across the X-Line. Read Full Review

Sep 24, 2021Gerry Duggan and Pepe Larraz continue to get better as a creative team with each passing issue and X-Men #3 is further proof of that. They tell a great story that showcases the X-Men as a strong superhero team while developing several plotlines around the team that include the High Evolutionary and Orchis future plans. What all these developments are leading towards builds greater excitement for what comes next in this series. Read Full Review

Sep 25, 2021X-Men #3 continues to focus on character moments and team work. Gerry Duggan is doing a good job of throwing everything he can at our newly formed team as they try to save the world. "The X-Men love elephants!" I love this series! For the third consecutive issue Duggan and Larraz tell a story that feels right at home with classic X-Men adventures; giving readers great action, intrigue, and interesting character moments that makes the long-time X-Men fan in me satisfied and eagerly anticipating the next issue.

Xmen is getting better and better. Its really impressive how the creative team is working in a fun and beautiful issue. Jean grey is having her best moments in this era, being a fierce and intelligent co-leader, cyclops gave us the best line in the whole book (X-men love elephants!), and the moment between synch and wolverine is very smart. I cant wait to see whats coming next!

Fantastic book! I love the writing and storyline Gerry duggan is really doing a fantastic job with this book so far. The artwork is also fantastic. As a huge X-Men fan I really couldn't be happier with the state of the X-Men book. I can't wait for the next issue

Teslelephant... I'll admit that made me laugh. Honestly, I really love this book. The team works well together and the seeds being planted are exciting and make me want to keep reading.

It's the X-Men being super heroes and it's fun. I'm still enjoying it and I like the stupid premise because it is not Hickman being 8 steps ahead in his chess games which can be very dry and methodical but man does it payoff years later. Here Duggan is doing nice regular comic booking but It's Larraz and Gracia that are the stars of the show. Those two are doing art like this is an event and I appreciate their effort!!

I'm still not entirely sold on this, but the action sequences and the hints at future (very important?) plots are enough for now. I find it funny the X-Men are shown eating in a different country every issue, after fighting. Is this Mutants Vs Food or what?

This was another good issue for this series. Although this falls in line with the previous two issues, in that it's a fun one-off adventure for the X-Men, I think we're finally starting to delve more into the overarching threats of this story with The High Evolutionary giving Cordyceps Jones' location to Jean. Hopefully we start to get less teases of things to come and more of bigger things actually happening.

The art is amazing along with the fights, it's not the great narrative but it's decent.

I’m really enjoying what Duggan is doing here. Establishing the X-Men as Earth’s protectors throughout this arc has been a lot of fun and the team moments are really landing for me. Multiple threats are being built up and it’s nice to see Marvel letting the X line slow down for a bit to tell some classic super hero stories. Really good stuff here.

This was a solid issue, but I agree with Mout in that I want this series to have a little more to it.

I have to admit I feel a little less interested in the X-books as a whole since it was confirmed that Marvel scrapped Hickman’s plans. The line is bloated and you would think a comic called X-Men would be the flagship title, the single X-book that matters most… but it doesn’t feel that way. It actually feels less connected to the overarching X-plotlines than X-Force, Wolverine or even the Trial of Magneto mini. Beyond that, it’s okay. Nothing great. Maybe it will start to take off after Inferno wraps and Hickman is formally gone. At the very least, the Ben Urich sub-plot is interesting.

I was so excited the High Evolutionary was back for this issue only to find out that his job here was to preach about climate change and how we're already dead and we don't know it yet. Never change, Duggan, never change. Also, I cringed at the line about the "teslelephant" who remembers Tesla. Facepalm. Seriously, what is the editor of this book doing, is he smoking pot or how does this sort of stuff get past him? And why are the Vietnamese shown as ignorant confusing the X-Men with the Avengers? Also, I'm beginning to be less enthusiastic about Larraz' artwork, I feel like he's not trying to come up with anything new or interesting. I'm not giving up on this book because I'm very interested in the upcoming Captain Krakoa character and because I love the X-Men but Duggan needs to cut the silliness out and put in some effort. more

The High Evolutionary pops by to offer to clean up the mutants' human problem; the X-Men brawl to stop him and get more info on Cordyceps Jones. The writing is a great vehicle for cueing up spectacular fight art, but it's also getting repetitive. Characterization remains sparse, and what little there is, I don't much like. I'm getting slightly interested in the long-term Ben Urich plot, though.

Dumb fight starts so pages can be spend on the fight fight ends an then locals offer a meal to x-men. This same thing happened on the last issue. Synch gave the villain his body and Cyclops seemed ok because x-men very win. This is very meta, of course x-men have to win or x-men comics will have to end at some point if they keep losing at the end. Art is so great, very knect. The scene on the pir with the rain is so beatiful, the way larraz draw and Gracia colors is unique. Writing needs to improve on next issues
